The crowd's focus narrowed, a collective breath held in the cool night air. Though hours has gone by since the Moon Festival started, and the noise had been replaced by the gentle movements and voices as well as gentle lapping of the river against the stones.
The lantern lights were in different colours of baskets that now cast coloured reflections on the ground.
Vespera, the Serpent Listener, stood as still as the old willow tree behind her. In the center of space that has been set in the middle of an average crowd.
Her presence was a vision of stillness, a serene counterpoint to the vibrant chaos of the crowd's emotions.
Her dark hair was plaited with strong river reeds, their green sheen catching the moonlight, and her simple, homespun dress was the color of moss.
"I have someone with me who has requested to meet you all." She said.
A covered pot was set behind her and the cover soon came off gently while there was some movement.
