Liah's pov
The next day,
I brought out all the clothes from my wardrobe, confused on what to wear to the party. For the first time in my entire life, I wanted to look good. After scattering my clothes on the bed and pondering for a while, I made my decision. My family are not home and won't be coming back tonight making things a whole lot easier for me.
I quickly entered the bathroom to freshen up.
After dressing up, I admired my reflection in the mirror. I wore an off-shouldered wine colored dress that flowed all the way to my ankles paired with simple silver heels. I put on a beautiful necklace my dad bought for me on my 15th birthday and added earrings completing the look. I let my black hair flow down my back reaching my waist. I looked in short.... stunning. I loved looking simple, it's just my preference. I twirled in front of the mirror three times, giggling to myself. I chose a silver handbag to go with the dress and I think it looks okay. I tried dialing Sophie's number to ask her if we could go together but she didn't take my calls. Maybe she has already left and didn't take her phone. Oh well, I'll see her at the party. After looking at my reflection one last time, I left the room.
Sophie's pov
I looked at my reflection in the mirror and sighed with contentment. I just look perfectly beautiful. I'm wearing a short bright yellow dress paired with black simple heels. I packed my hair in a bun leaving few strands to highlight my face, making my already pretty face more prettier.
Liah called me a few times but I purposely ignored her calls. I don't want to go to the party with her. I don't want her stealing Dylan's attention away from me. I noticed this past few days, I've been feeling jealous towards Liah because of Dylan. I've tried to control my feelings, to stop liking Dylan and feeling jealous towards my best friend since I noticed he had eyes only for Liah but all to no avail. Since I can't control my feelings, I might as well fight for them.
Since last night, I've been thinking on how to approach Dylan at the party, and I slept very little as a result. I really want to dance with him at the party and I would try my possible best to make it happen. I hope he won't choose Liah over me again. I giggled as his handsome face flashed through my mind.
Well, I better start leaving for the party. When I got to the party, I walked in confidently. I ignored the look of admiration and jealousy from the onlookers and scanned the room until my eyes finally landed on him. Dylan wore a clean, well fitted outfit that made him look effortlessly handsome. He was dressed in dark jeans paired with a crisp shirt, sleeves rolled just enough to seem relaxed. Simple sneakers finished the look, giving him that quiet confidence that didn't try too hard but still stood out. How could anyone be this attractive? I have to make him mine, starting from this party. I will be his date, I hope he doesn't push me away.
Dylan's pov
At the party,
Where is she? I checked my time again and saw that it was already 8pm. Why is she always late?
I kept on glancing at the door every few minutes but no sign of her. After a little while, I noticed her friend coming in. All eyes turned to look at her direction filled with admiration. I must admit, she looked beautiful but not as beautiful as my Liah. Thinking about Liah again made me groan.
Ugh, why does this girl like to keep me waiting.
I took a seat and grabbed a glass of wine, chucking down the wine frustratingly. Just then,
"Hi Dylan" I heard a soft voice behind me. I turned and saw that the owner was none other than Sophie, Liah's friend.
"Hello" I replied, not wanting to seem rude since she was Liah's friend.
"You look so handsome today" she said with pure admiration. I squinted at her compliment. If it was Liah, I wouldn't mind, in fact, I might have already started grinning from ear to ear but it's wasn't her.
"Thank you. You don't look bad yourself" I said casually. She blushed and I rolled my eyes inwardly. How I wish she can just leave me alone.
"Do you have a date? If you don't, how about I be your date. I don't have one myself" she said. She leaned towards me and held my free hand, making me feel disgusted. I flung her hand away and stood up abruptly.
"Sorry, I have a date" I said and turned to change my seat. But it seemed the girl wasn't about to give up as she followed me to my new seat.
"Who is she? I doubt she's better looking than I am. Please let me be your date, please" she pleaded, blinking her hazel eyes innocently but I wasn't one to be fooled easily. I have a feeling that she's not as innocent as she seems but she's Liah's friend and I don't want to say or do anything that would annoy Liah.
"Sorry Sophie but you are in no way more pretty than her, and if you don't mind, I want to drink in peace. You're actually disturbing me" I said. I don't really care if it hurts her. She should be happy that I didn't push her or act rashly when she touched me, she should be grateful to her friend. She looked at my cold face before sighing dejectedly and walked away. I ignored her and continued my drink.
Just as I finished the wine, I heard gasps. I turned to see what was happening and there she was, the girl I've been waiting for all my life. The moment I set my eyes on her, I felt my heart skip several beats. I couldn't take my eyes off her. She looked effortlessly beautiful wearing a simple yet stunning dress, soft fabric flowing gently around her, the wine color glowing again her skin that was as white and smooth as porcelain. Her blue eyes shone brightly and her long black hair cascaded down her back. She looked absolutely stunning. I noticed all the guys drooling and rolled my eyes. Do they want me to gouge their eyes out? How dare they look at her like that?
Just as I was about to walk towards her, a delicate hand held me back. I turned to see who it was and saw a pretty girl looking at me with pure affection. Who is she and what does she want? I tried pulling my hand away but she held me tighter.
"What do you want?" I snapped at her impatiently. I need to go meet Liah. I don't want any other guy to make a move. She looked so beautiful tonight even without makeup. I'm sure many guys wouldn't want to waste this opportunity but I won't let them.
"I like you Dylan. Will you dance with me tonight? I haven't seen any girl with you since the party commenced and I assume you don't have have a date" she said. What is she saying? Ugh, I don't have time for this.
Just as I was about to forcefully free myself from her grasp, I heard a sweet voice from behind me that melted my soul although the voice sounded annoyed,
"What are you doing? Let go of my man, now".
