Nicholas sat up quickly, his heart beating fast. He tossed the blanket off and swung his legs over the bed. His face was hard, his jaw clenched. Amber was frozen, staring at the screen. Her mind was blank with shock. It felt like her worst nightmare was happening right in front of her.
Nicholas wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close. "Look at me," he said firmly.
Amber shook her head, tears spilling down her cheeks.
"Amber," he said again, lifting her chin gently so she met his eyes. "We are not going to let them win. You hear me?"
"But everyone will believe it," Amber whispered brokenly. "They already think so many things because of what Cassie did before. Now this? I'll lose everything, Nicholas."
"No, you won't," he said fiercely. "I won't let that happen. We'll fight this. We'll clear your name."
