Cassius had scoured every room and every corner and found nothing. "Did he go somewhere?"
Hands on his hips, Cassius clicked his tongue in frustration. The manor was too quiet. Every time he wandered through its long, gloomy corridors, he shuddered—as if the darkness itself was ready to pounce and drag him into the abyss.
A chill crept over his skin. Strange whispers clawed at his mind. Every vacant room felt abandoned and forlorn—each cold wall exuding the melancholy of life's end. "By the way… how's Vienna?"
