Chapter 147 - The Space Between

Logan's POV

You know that moment where you realise after the fact that maybe, just maybe, you've made a fucking terrible decision?

Yeah.

This might've been a bad idea.

My whole body is on fire. And I don't mean that figuratively. It actually feels like my blood has turned to lava and my bones are trying to combust into ash.

The pain is unreal, unlike anything I've ever experienced. I can't isolate it, can't describe it to a even doctor if I tried. How do you say 'My entire being is burning' in a way that helps people understand the gravity of it? How do you say 'everything hurts' without it sounding like an exaggeration?

I hear something. Screaming. It's loud, long, guttural and bloodcurdling.

It takes me a second or five to realise the sound is from me.

"What's going on? What's happening to him!?"

That's Noah. I'd recognise his terrified and panicked voice anywhere. I hear it now piercing through the fog of my pain.
