Logan's POV
The heat in the Stronghold's main floor is suffocating.
Over two hundred Lycans have crammed themselves into the gym-like training hall—Betas, Alphas, a few anxious Omegas—and there's barely space to shift weight from foot to foot. Weaker parts of the wooden floorboards creak and sigh under the weight of boots and anxiety. Murmurs buzz through the air like flies over rotting carcass. Speculations. Rumours. Questions. I'm so tired I could scream and I'm in so much pain that I regret ever fucking up my shoulder in the first place.
I bear the pain as everyone's eyes are turned upward.
Rowan stands at the overhanging balcony above. While the bottom floor is for training, the floor directly above it contains offices and is often used for observation. It is there that Rowan stands under the scrutiny of his people.
