Chapter 13 - Waking up

Elia woke up in a daze, not knowing where she was. Her entire body hurt like it had been hit by a truck. She hadn't felt like this even in the past when she attended ballet classes day after day without a break in hopes of impressing her former in-laws.

"Ugh..." She struggled to get up from the bed and tried to focus on her surroundings. That didn't seem helpful in the least without her glasses. Elia quickly wandered her hands on the side table, trying to find it, but stopped when she heard an unfamiliar voice.

"Here," the voice said while Elia saw her glasses before her. She quickly took them and put them on before looking at the one who gave them to her.

A man wearing a white lab coat and a judgmental look on his face stood by the side of her bed, "Good that you woke up" the man said, "I don't like taking blood without the subject's consent"

"Blood?" Elia frowned as she glanced at the syringe he was holding. Sharp and daunting. Her senses suddenly snapped back in place making her scramble away from the man. Fear encompassed her when she slowly started to recall everything that had happened before she fell unconscious.

"God no....." A desperate whisper left her lips when she remembered being kidnapped and then facing a weird man that acted like an animal...and who looked like an animal! Elia stopped herself from thinking further. It would only scare her more rather than help. What she saw back there didn't even make sense even though it happened right before her eyes.

As she racked her brain trying to comprehend her predicament, her gaze shifted to the man in a lab coat. He didn't look like a doctor; he looked more like a mad scientist she had occasionally read about in sci-fi books. He had auburn hair that was wild and uncombed, stubble that was left unshaven, and a dull look in his eyes.

"I'm Alyn, by the way," He threw out his name before going back to his previous words, "Please lie down, I must extract your blood." His monotonous and bored voice made her confused. Did all kidnappers behave like this? Well, she had no prior experience and hence asked.

"Where am I?" Ignoring the obvious condescending way he looked at her, she started to climb down from the bed. It repulsed her to stay where she was accessible to her potential kidnapper. If it really came to it, she would make it as hard as it could be for her kidnappers by being rebellious. She wouldn't budge without a fight. Snatching the bedside lamp, she held it in front of her as self-defense. It was not much but better than nothing. Her mind refused to let her be vulnerable and become a victim.

"Calm down...." The man said seeing her stance. There was no fear or anger in his words. He just sounded bored. To further cement the fact, he left out a long sigh and shook his head.

"Shut up and answer me!" She yelled cutting him off, "WHERE AM I!?" This guy was not taking her seriously and that irked her to no end, "Answer me"

The man tilted his head to the side, observing all her movements as though trying to decipher her, and said, "You are in the Crimson Moon pack"

"The what?" Elia asked, a frown deepening on her face, but before she could ask more, the sound of the door opening stopped her.

She once again went alert and looked towards the door with a bated breath. With a click, the door quickly moved in a smooth movement. Beyond it stood a man with a face that looked too handsome to be real. His pitch Balck hair was tousled and reached his neck while his sharp blue eyes complemented it. Strong jaw followed by a broad chest reminded her of those marble statues in the museum. However, a memory back in her mind suddenly played out making her take a step back. This man.....wasn't he the same feral man from the club?

"Alpha, Eros," Elia saw the lab coat man greet the feral man, making her mind go into a frenzy. So was she kidnapped on the orders of this man? But what about the other one that attacked her in the basement? Questions were plenty, but she was way too afraid to know the answers to them. If she really was kidnapped by these people, then could she even escape? What if he turns into a monster and kills her? Was this lab coat guy also the same? She had no choice but to believe so. Elia had already seen two men turning into something like an animal, who was to say there weren't more of them?

Elia felt like she would end up dead before making her escape. 'But I don't want to die,' she thought. Only now was she finally free from her toxic family and boyfriend. She didn't want to die just yet. There was so much she still wanted to do and experience. Dying now felt worse than getting cheated on by her long-time fiancé.

While she got lost in the sea of her own thoughts and zoned out, Eros observed the weird human woman in front of him. She looked even more pathetic and weak than he had initially thought, and as she stood dazed, as though not having any instinct or sense of danger, he grew angry. This woman, this weak and soft human woman was standing there instead of trying to run. It's not like she would succeed, but yet...Eros hated how she just gave up. What if she were in some real danger? What was the moon goddess even thinking giving him a mate like this?

"Have you explained things to her?" He asked Alyn just to make sure. If possible, he wanted to get the hell out of this room and leave the others to do the explaining. His previous conviction of confronting the human went out of the widnow. As soon as he stepped inside, the human's scent assaulted his senses, making his wolf restless. He so wanted to rush to her and press her body against his own but held back. It was like this even with an enormous amount of wolfsbane in his system. Eros didn't want to imagine what would happen without it.

"She isn't particularly complaint for me to explain" Alyn answered Eros, "I have to take her blood sample to research more about the resurgence of mate bond but she isn't very cooperative" then he turned to Elia with a glint in his eyes, "It's fascinating to say the least, even in old scriptures there were no precedence of Wolves having a human for a mate" The mate bond entirely vanished between Wolves from some point on but even before that, there were no known knowledge about humans ever being mates of their kind. This was new in the sense of being brand new. Bizzarely so.

Eros knew that too. And if this news ever gets out, there will be chaos amongst every pack. Everyone will want to know about the revival of the mate bond and the cause of it.

Wide brown eyes filled with fear. The 'Cause' being this human woman who suddenly appeared in their club.

"You", his pointed call made her flinch. She waited for what he would say until he said, "Why aren't you letting him take your blood sample? Are you afraid of needles like some of you puny humans are?" Eros asked it genuinely. He knew about humans being fearful of most things. He wanted to know if that was the case with her too.

As for Elia, she was offended by his words, "Puny human?" She felt ticked off, "I'm not a puny human, you Feral man!"
