I found him in his study trying to hide the fact that he was sulking.
Maps covered the huge oak desk. Reports stacked so high, it almost tipped over.
Yet Jack sat in his chair, staring out the window, a muscle tight in his jaw like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders .
I understood. it couldn't have been easy knowing he was the future of the Western werewolf clan, bearing that weight and now, his father...to shoulder the weight of a disapproving father. I hated that he had to carry that too.
"Hey," I said, my voice soft as I leaned against the doorframe of his office.
He turned towards me. His eyes softening when he saw me like I was his favorite person in the world. Just a little. "Hey."
I walked in. "You okay?"
He shook his head, a quick, sharp movement. "Don't wanna talk about him, Kai." His voice was rough like a rake dragging on gravel
