Chapter 12 - The Rite [II]

Before the group of Zandro left, Zandro left a necklace that will allow Sancho to visit their domain in the future if he needed some help. It was a necklace with a pendant of something like an amber. It was a bit brownish and it doesn't look remarkable but Sancho have seen his Lolo Juan also have this necklace hanging on his neck before.

"That necklace was Juan's before he died. But since he will not be using it anymore, we took the liberty to retrieve it and transfer it to the one who is supposed to inherit his legacy. And even though you didn't directly receive his legacy due to his sudden death, you are planning to retrieve and do his legacy. That alone is enough for you to get this necklace," Zandro said as he put the necklace on Sancho's hands.

"I get to use this necklace? But what is this for?" Sancho asked.

"You will know when the time is right, but right now in your current state, you still won't understand. Until then, that necklace will remain as a necklace for now."

After the cryptic message, Zandro and his group left. One of the female engkantos keeps on looking at him but Sancho paid it no mind. What is more important for Sancho is to ensure the funeral of his Lolo Juan to be peaceful and without any trouble.

The night vigils didn't take last long as it is the wish of Sancho and Arcana. Since there are no other close relatives Lolo Juan has left, the only people who attended his burial was the siblings and Zandro's group, alongside with the ghosts in the mansion who are grieving for Lolo Juan's sudden passing.

The burial happened on the tiny plot of land where a lone tree of Balete tree is growing. It is part of his will to be buried there and the siblings honored that wish.

Compared to most Balete trees that are huge and old, and are told to be the house of various entities that the normal eye cannot see, the balete in Lolo Juan's property seems to be devoid of any said entities. It was odd at first but Sancho didn't question it anymore. If his Lolo Juan wishes to be buried there, then there is nothing wrong with it.

There are only a few people and ghosts who joined the ceremony and that includes the group of Zandro. Sancho couldn't help but be conscious on the other girl in Zandro's group. She keeps on staring at him and even when he looks at her, she doesn't move her gaze away. There are lots of thoughts swirling in his head and he hoped that there is nothing bad currently on her mind.

The burial ended quietly and although Sancho expected some troublemakers to come and wreck the burial, nothing of that sort happened and everything ended peacefully.

With everything over, Sancho also received the documents from the lawyer revealing that the name transfer for the inheritance and transfer of assets is done and the hacienda is now both Arcana and Sancho's property.

This time around, Sancho decided to talk with Arcana. He didn't talk much with her after the incident due to how busy they became after finalizing all of Lolo Juan's burial and the transfer of the inheritance. With everything over, he can finally have a good long talk with her and it seems that it wasn't just him who has this idea as before Sancho can even invite Arcana to talk, she initiated it first.

"Sancho, we needed to talk," Arcana said calmly as she sat down to the sofa.

"Yeah, perfect timing, I have something I want to talk with you."

The ghosts who are lounging in thr living room understood what is happening and left the two alone. Sitting opposite to one another, Sancho is the first to break the silence.

"Are you alright, sis? I never got to check your condition after Lolo died so it might come a bit late."

Arcana chuckled. "It's fine, brother. Considering what happened in the basement, perhaps if we have traded places, I doubt I would also be in my right mind after that."

"I am sorry still. But can I ask if you saw who assaulted you?"

"Yeah, I think so. Vaguely though as it seems like my mind is hazy and the moment I try to recall things, my head would start to hurt a lot."

Sancho groaned hearing that Arcana was affected by that. It seems Gustavo made sure that Arcana won't be able to remember him at all considering she was not someone who have spiritual powers.

"Nothing wrong happening to your body now, yes? Like anything at all?"

"Maybe there is something though I am not sure, Sancho. It feels weird and a bit scary as well."

Sancho's eyebrows raise. "What do you mean?"

"After what happened before Lolo's death, when I collapsed, my body felt weird at first like my soul suddenly left my body. I can't move at all and there is some unknown force currently controlling my every movement. I don't know if I saw everything correctly but I saw Lolo Juan died in front of me. However, I am quite sure I didn't leave in my room. It was like my eyes penetrated all the way to the basement while I was unconscious and saw all the events there."

Sancho frowned. "Can you still do that now that you are awake?"

"No. But my eyes are seeing new things now. Right now, I can see a few fuzzy smoke-like things floating around. I thought I was just seeing things but throughout the whole funeral of Lolo Juan, those things are floating around, waltzing everywhere and is even sitting on the chairs prepared for the guests."

Sancho started thinking and he finally has an idea on what is happening to her. She have read stuff related to ghosts after his awakening of the third eye so after learning through the experiences of many people who said to have third eye, it seems that Arcana has indeed awakened her third eye after the incident of Gustavo and his ghost infiltrating the mansion.

"I think you have partially opened your Third Eye, Sis. Since it wasn't a full open, you can only see ghosts in their smoky form and not their regular form like how I see them.

Instead of Arcana screaming about not wanting to have her third eye open, she went silent and sighed. "Figures. I thought I would be escaping this path but I guess fate has already decided to do that for me and opened them before I get my decision."

"You are not afraid, sis? I thought you don't want to see ghosts?"

"Before, yes. But after Lolo Juan died, I think there is now an incentive for us to have our third eye open. Aren't you going to avenge Lolo Juan from the man who killed him?"

Sancho clenches his fist and sighed. "Even though I received a warning from Gustavo that if I pursue the path of the Albularyo and he will make sure that I will be treated as no more than a Quack Doctor that will not be able to do anything, I will still pursue this path. There must be something the Albularyos do to make Gustavo afraid and actively hunting and destroying them. Perhaps, that will be our key to avenging Lolo Juan."

"But if you are going to become one, how will you do it? It would have been great if you have received information and managed to train with Lolo Juan before he died but you just started and got your third eye open right now. Is there a way you can bypass that?" Arcana scratches her chin.

"Remember the handsome man who joined with us attending the burial of Lolo Juan and even joined during night vigil? He said that there must be something we can use from the belongings left behind Lolo Juan. Let's try to check his belongings and perhaps we can find what we are looking for."

At that time, Sancho and Arcana has no idea that they have more things to do if they have to follow the footsteps of their Lolo Juan. And that will also be their first step on stepping through the world of Paranormal and how this will become part of their normal life.
