Jesse came to a halt in front of the warrior mage, a somber and sorrowful expression etched onto her face as she watched the crimson droplets fall from her brother's cheek.

Contrary to her fearful expectations, Grey wasn't angry in the least.
His face was split with a wide, triumphant smile as he crouched down in front of the little girl.
"Oh Jesse, there is no need to apologize to me."
Jesse looked up at him, her expression a mask of pure confusion.
"But—bu…" she stuttered, her small finger pointing toward the jagged cut on his face.
Lifting a brow, Grey moved his hand toward his cheek and wiped his thumb over the blood before bringing it back before his eyes to inspect the stain.
"This is a small price to pay for what I wanted to see."
Jesse's brows furrowed immediately as she searched deep into his gaze.
