Astraea was livid. The moment she arrived and caught the scent of her own kind hanging heavy in the rain-soaked air, she knew Zephyra was in trouble, just like she had been told.
Her fury only grew when she felt the pull of a dark portal nearby, the sickening ripple of a gateway opening where it shouldn't exist, and then she saw it, the sight of Zephyra being dragged down into the black void, her body sinking like it was being swallowed whole.
Rage lit up inside her like wildfire, and she felt the raw surge of her own powers, desperate to snap at something and find an outlet for her anger, but even in this state, her first thought was for Zephyra. She snapped into Zephyra's mind instantly, her voice stern and commanding.
"Close your eyes."
When Zephyra didn't move fast enough, Astraea barked at her again, her tone sharper, leaving no room for hesitation. She couldn't allow Zephyra to see what she was about to do, not this side of her.
