Astraea's POV
I wasn't sure what I expected from Zephyra, maybe rage, confusion, or even fear. That would've made things easier.
A messy reaction would've given me permission to push her away again, to say I told you so, to pretend like I wasn't just as consumed by this as she clearly was, but instead, she just… stayed quiet.
I watched her closely, waiting for her to say something, anything. My arms were folded across my chest, my knee bouncing restlessly as I sat across from her, and the silence between us felt heavy and almost unbearable until finally, I broke it.
"Aren't you going to say anything?"
She looked up from her drink and met my eyes. Her expression was unreadable but not cold. It was as calm, almost too calm.
"I don't want to hear it," she said simply, like we were talking about weather or something more basic.
I blinked. "What?"
