Astraea's POV
I was definitely alone when I fell asleep.
The lights were still on, the blankets weren't even pulled over my shoulder, and I was pretty sure I hadn't even changed out of my clothes. My head had been aching from thinking way too much, and I'd just planned to lie down for a second. Clearly, I'd passed out for longer than that.
But now, there was someone else in the bed.
A presence. That's the only way to describe it. I didn't hear a sound or feel a shift, but something tugged me out of my sleep like an invisible string, and as I blinked my eyes open, I nearly jumped.
Zephyra was in my bed.
She was sitting beside me, leaning over slightly, her elbow propped up on the mattress, just watching me. Her dark hair was pulled back messily, and she had this calm, sweet smile on her lips, like this was the most natural thing in the world.
"What...Zephyra?" I sat up quickly, my voice groggy but sharp. "What are you doing here?"
