Chapter 107 - Endless chain(8)

The downwards attack consisted of the giant bipedal monster clasping it's hands together to completely smash Cades, but Cades himself managed to get away from the monsters fruitless attack quite easily, an attack that was perhaps so slow because he came from far away and hadn't known that Cades had actually been here.

And as such it had really been surprisingly easy for Cades to take a step to the side, expecting the clamped fists to hit right in front of him, causing the being to momentarily be tomfooled and stunned, resulting in him attacking right after, destroying the lower half, the legs, of the ten foot monster that was attacking him.

As he was awaiting that he also finally had the time to look at the b#stard that was now attacking him, a foolish act that was however quite in his current interests, the striving for knowledge, and indeed, it was interesting, the fact that the thing was seemingly quite similar to the puppets he had fought before.

That which he saw was a kind of golem, ten foot tall with weirdly orange glowing eyes that resembled little balls of light such as the one he had cast at his entrance exam to the Unulria magic academy, the spell that had once a long time ago actually troubled him when he was first learning the spell, and magic all together.

Other than that it consisted of a series of gigantic tightly packed boulders that resembled a picture-perfect and well-known golem-type that could be seen in almost every kind of fantasy or every kind of schematics for creating golems, one covered in a glossy shell of something atop the boulders that seemingly consisted of the same thing.

It had gigantic arms and it's body resembled that of a gorilla with a tiny round face that resembled a sphere with two hollowed out eyes in the middle in which the previously mentioned balls of light were glowing in the same bright orange as previously.

Cades, finally realizing all of it, looking at the glossy obsidian golem, he felt a kind of instinctual trust, not fear, not anger, but weirdly enough he felt as if that golem was something that could help him, was something he had been searching for, but either way he no longer had time.

As the clamped fists of the monster were about to make impact with the cold ground of the endless chain that dwarfed even the huge golem-like creature that was now standing atop it, they began to glow in a greenish ghostly light that spread a kind of eerie presence as it quickly spread out, pushing the ancient shadows atop the chain aside.

And as the fists finally collided with the ancient chains, completely missing their intended target, as Cades was already closing in, towards the monster that was now exuding no more intent, the greenish light exploded outwards and Cades was pushed a good dozen feet away, luckily not nearly enough to be pushed from the ancient chain, and only really possible because he was severely weakened after losing both an eye and an arm.

But nevertheless, despite being surprised by the green light that suddenly pushed him back while expanding and not having any idea as to what just happened, except for a hunch that it had something to do with magic, most likely another magical system he had no idea as to how it functioned.

And soon after, while Cades was still thinking and trying to figure out how to solve this problem, namely the problem of the monster being active, if not alive, that very monster began to move once more, assuming a kind of defensive stance while pointing downwards, ready to receive the attack that was already readied for it, a slash form Cade's silver blade.

And indeed, that defensive stance, without commanding any magic, and mana, without commanding anything, without even showing intent, somehow stopped the blade mid-air, somehow absorbing the shock and force behind it as well, as if Cades had intended to stop the attack that was already at barely a third of the usual force all along, and in return of that attack the demon showed it's next movement openly, as if thinking of Cades as easy, wounded prey, but Cades now knew that he couldn't beat this thing easily, at least not with a sword, no, he needed magic, and right now his magic had been unsealed once more.

For just a moment, while the monster was still changing it's stance to attack using one of it's fist, downwards as always but this time in a more direct way and using it's palm instead of the fist, the better way to battle because of the stronger bones around the knuckle, as if intending to do something probably related to however it was using magic, Cades blinked and as he did he pressed everything out, intending to push him away and turn this place into his to command, so to say, in the same way wit which he had managed to easily create a shield in the middle of the air, in the same way that that mage on the wooden puppet island had managed to probably create her diagrams, and as such he began the countermeasure against his new attacker by spreading his own mana throughout the air, polluting it with his will and causing it to ever so slightly be controllable, at least in a much faster way than by normal magic.

The spreading magic which assumed a kind of mixture between two different colours at the core, his own body that now exuded a small amount of violet and orange glow while the invisible force was spreading out, was pushing away the monster quite effectively, causing it to tumble a few feet away, only really remaining standing and not being sent quite a bit further away from Cades, into the void in it's case because of the sheer difference in weight.

After a brief moment of confusion in which the golems stance wavered he did however quickly return to his old state and was about to attack Cades, but this time Cades could use his own shields, and as such he did, shielding himself from the attack of the now glowing palm that was still radiating the same eery glowing green light as before.
