About ten minutes later, everyone attending the class reunion had finally arrived, and the private room became lively.
Most of them weren't studying at the same university. They were scattered all over the country, and only part of the class had returned during this summer vacation. Even so, everyone was very happy to see each other again.
With everyone present, the gathering naturally began.
As dish after dish was served, everyone chatted while eating, talking about interesting things that had happened during their university years and their plans after graduating in their senior year.
The class monitor looked toward Ichin with a hint of envy in her eyes.
"Out of all of us, you're the one who doesn't have to worry about that at all, Ichin, right? You already have such a big business now. Honestly, I never expected that after going abroad to study, you'd actually start your own company."
Ichin took a sip of cola and shrugged.
"I didn't expect things to go this smoothly either. I originally thought it might take a couple more years of struggling. But who knew the first game would sell so well? And I also met a really great team and recruited them right away."
Haruno, sitting nearby, smiled and said,
"Sometimes luck is also part of strength. Every year there are so many new and old game studios making games, but only a few manage to produce a hit. But every game Ichin releases has never been a disaster. At worst, the sales are a bit lower, but none of them have ever lost money, right? And now there are already two games that sold over ten million copies. Titanfall has sold more than five million, and Apex is still extremely popular, with huge viewership numbers on streaming platforms. Thinking about it now, investing in his company back then was truly the best decision I've made in the past few years!"
Eriri picked up a garlic scallop with her chopsticks and ate it, then complained to Haruno,
"It really feels like you're praising your own investment vision. Is that necessary? Look at me. Even though I invested too, I don't keep talking about it all the time!"
Wasn't she basically doing the same thing?
Yukino shook her head helplessly and said with a smile,
"But Eriri, wasn't that investment arranged by Aunt Sayuri for you? You didn't actually have that much money yourself."
"Hehehe… don't expose me like that!"
Among the classmates present, while some didn't know the exact value of Ichin's company, a few of them were gamers and knew the sales numbers of the games his company had released. They also knew that people like Haruno, who had invested earlier, must have made a fortune.
Investing themselves wasn't really possible given their family backgrounds. But as seniors about to graduate, joining Ichin's company after graduation was definitely an option.
So someone immediately asked,
"Ichin! Is your Shanghai company still hiring? My major in college is computer science. I'm not super amazing or anything, but I've participated in several national collegiate programming competitions."
Ichin immediately smiled.
"Of course we're hiring. And if nothing unexpected happens, we'll actually be expanding recruitment soon. There's going to be a new project before long. Not just programmers, but artists, planners, operations staff, and more are all needed. If any of you are interested, feel free to submit your résumés. Of course, I won't give you any special treatment. I rarely interfere with recruitment for the Shanghai office."
Hearing that Ichin's company was still hiring, several classmates whose majors matched the positions became interested.
These days, it wasn't easy to find a job after graduation. Since there happened to be a suitable company started by a classmate, and it was developing quite well, they were still willing to give it a try even without special treatment.
After finishing a lively lunch, everyone followed the original plan and went to a KTV. After playing for about two hours, the class reunion came to an end.
Ichin then took Yukino and the others back to the company. After handling a few simple matters, they got off work and went home.
By the time they arrived, dinner was almost ready.
Utaha, wearing an apron, walked out of the kitchen carrying a dish of sweet and sour spare ribs. Seeing the four of them enter, she smiled.
"You're back? Go wash your hands and get ready to eat."
Dinner began. After taking a bite of ribs, Ichin looked at his mother.
"Mom, you're leaving tomorrow morning, right?"
"That's right."
Ichin's mother said happily,
"We haven't really traveled much these past six months. This time we can finally visit some places we've never been before and enjoy ourselves. But Ichin, are you sure you don't want to come with us?"
"I won't go," Ichin explained. "There's a lot going on at the company. I had a meeting with the planning team this morning, and the project is definitely feasible. Over the next few days I'll need to focus on refining the proposal and finalizing it. This is their first time working on something like this. The ideas are good, but since they're doing many things for the first time, I need to give them some guidance. Otherwise if something goes wrong during development, it'll be troublesome to fix later."
Ichin's father nodded from the side.
"Since Ichin wants to work, let him focus on it. Being dedicated to your own career is a good thing."
Although Ichin's mother felt a bit sorry for her son, seeing how much he enjoyed his work, she didn't say anything more and simply let him continue.
The next morning, Ichin woke up right on time when his alarm rang.
He had briefly woken up earlier when Utaha got up, but she hadn't let him get up to see them off, so he went back to sleep.
Sitting up and yawning, he looked outside at the fully bright sky and muttered to himself,
"I wonder if Mom prepared breakfast for me. If not, I'll just go out and buy something. What should I eat… noodles, or maybe pan-fried buns?"
Thinking that, Ichin made his bed and walked out of the bedroom.
But the moment he stepped outside, he saw Yukino coming out of the kitchen.
Ichin froze for a moment, rubbed his eyes, and said in surprise,
"Yukino? Why are you still here?"
Yukino set down the clay pot she was carrying, removed her heat-resistant gloves, and smiled.
"I was supposed to be on the plane already. But when I woke up this morning, I realized my period started, and I wasn't feeling very well. So Utaha suggested that I stay home and rest instead. If I went out traveling everywhere, I'd probably just feel even more tired."
Hearing that, Ichin did a quick mental calculation. It did seem like about the right time.
"I see. In that case, stay home and keep me company these next few days."
Yukino not going on the trip was quite an unexpected surprise for Ichin. But it also meant he didn't have to eat out every day. He could come home, cook, and have someone to share meals with.
Thinking that, Ichin smiled and pulled Yukino into a hug, giving her a kiss on the forehead.
Yukino smiled back and returned the gesture before saying,
"Go brush your teeth and wash your face. I've already prepared breakfast."
