Chapter 355 - Chapter 355: The Dog Food We All Expected

Ichin: How's it going over there? How's your class?

Utaha: Everyone just finished introducing themselves. As expected, there are more girls—almost forty people in my class, but only eight are guys. I didn't pay much attention to the boys, but there are a few really pretty girls. How about you, Ichin?

Ichin: Over here? Pretty much as I expected—almost all guys, only five girls. The surprising part is that two of the guys are fans of our company's games. They recognized me as soon as I walked in.

After sending the message, Ichin glanced toward the front. The introductions were already halfway through, so it wouldn't be long before they finished.

Ichin: Looks like you're going to finish before me. I'll have to trouble you to wait a bit.

Utaha: It's fine. Want me to just come over and wait for you?

Ichin thought for a moment, replied Sure, and then went back to listening to the remaining introductions.

Six minutes later, the last student was done, and the homeroom teacher began outlining the schedule.

"Classes start tomorrow, so you're free for the rest of today. Those staying in the dorms should get settled in and used to life here. If you live off-campus and haven't registered with me yet, make sure to do so before 2 p.m. As for classes, there are no electives in the first week. You can start choosing them through the school system on Thursday and Friday, so make sure to get that done."

After that came a series of reminders about the major's courses. Since computer science was completely new for many students, they'd have to prepare and preview certain things in advance.

Of course, none of this was a challenge for Ichin—if he wanted to skip grades, he could easily do it, though he had no intention to.

The teacher and counselor spent about thirty minutes in total, also talking about campus life, which cafeteria dishes were worth trying, and various clubs, making it less boring than it could've been.

By the time they wrapped up, it was already past 11 a.m.

"Alright, that's it for today," the teacher said. "You're dismissed—feel free to explore."

Once they left, the classroom became lively again. Students were chatting and making plans to explore the campus with new friends.

Takahashi and Ozawa turned around to face Ichin.

"Ichin, want to grab lunch at the cafeteria? Since we're free this afternoon, how about hitting the arcade?"

Ichin smiled and shook his head. "Not today, I've got plans."

"You've got plans?" they asked, eyes lighting up.

"With a girl?"

"Mmm… you could say that."

Just then, the classroom went noticeably quiet. Ichin glanced toward the door—sure enough, Utaha was standing there.

With no teachers around, she walked straight in, crossed the room, and stopped in front of him.

"Ichin, ready to go? Yukino's already waiting for us, and Eriri will be there too."

"She's coming to freeload for lunch?"

"Mhm. She's been at Yukino's place all morning."

"Alright, we'll count her in."

Standing up, Ichin looked at the two guys. "I'll head out then—see you in class tomorrow."

"Oh, tomorrow!" they replied in unison.

As Ichin left with Utaha—a stunning beauty—lively whispers immediately filled the classroom.

From the moment he'd walked in, Ichin had drawn attention; his aura was clearly different from a typical student. Now, they discovered that this low-key guy had such a gorgeous girlfriend?

In a class full of mostly guys, it was a serious shock.

Takahashi finally spoke. "I just noticed—Ichin's been wearing a ring this whole time."

Ozawa nodded. "Yeah, and it's a matching set. She's wearing one too. We should've guessed—there's no way someone like him would be single."

"You think we should ask him for tips on dating?"

"Definitely. Let's treat him to lunch tomorrow."

Meanwhile, Ichin and Utaha left the building and headed to the parking lot. Once in the car, they drove off toward Yukino's apartment.

On the way, Utaha asked, "Those two guys sitting in front of you—they're the ones who like our games, right?"

"Yeah. And they've been friends since childhood, even got into Todai together. Pretty surprising."

"I see~~"

Nodding, Utaha pulled out her phone to show Ichin two newly joined group chats.

"One's for the whole class, the other's for just the girls. Oh, and I really hit it off with a few girls today. We're going to have lunch together tomorrow, so we can't eat together at noon, okay?"

"Tomorrow noon? No problem."

Ichin thought over his schedule. "I'm booked solid in the morning, and I have one class in the afternoon too. I wouldn't want you to wait for me anyway—it's tiring. Just eat with your classmates, and call me if you need anything."

"Don't worry."

Utaha smiled happily. "After lunch, I'll just stay at the library and read. Once you're done, come find me and we'll go home together."

"The Todai library, huh… yeah, I've been wanting to see it."

Before long, they arrived outside Yukino's apartment building. After a quick phone call and a few minutes' wait, Yukino and Eriri came out.

Getting into the car, Eriri asked eagerly, "So, what's for lunch?"

Ichin glanced back at her with a smile. "Since when did you develop this foodie streak? Every time I see you, you're thinking about food."

"What? Is that a problem?" Eriri shot back. "It's lunchtime—what else am I supposed to talk about? Ask about your university registration?"

Fair enough—there wasn't much to say about registration anyway.
