Chapter 478 - Chapter 478: The King of Hell Calls the Roll

["Next, let's toast to William!"]

["William!!!"]

[The screen suddenly showed a flashback of Obadiah Stane appearing and angrily scolding William during his time at Stark Industries, "Tony Stark was able to build this technology in a cave! Using nothing but a box of scraps!!!"]

[Quentin Beck continued his sinister celebration: "My revolutionary holographic 'B.A.R.F.' technology combined with your weaponized drone systems makes us absolutely invincible! Realistic illusions that fool everyone! Real destructive strikes that cause genuine damage! With our miraculous combined skills, the future has unlimited potential!"]

[William raised his champagne glass with villainous pride: "Thank you, brother!"]

[Quentin Beck pointed to the next conspirator, "To Gutman!"]

["Cheers to Gutman!!!"]

["That completely ridiculous backstory you fabricated about a warrior named Quentin from an alternate Earth fighting interdimensional monsters in Europe is so absurd! But this is exactly what people are most likely to believe in our current world! The fact is that absolutely everyone bought into it completely!"]

["Gutman!!!" Gutman nodded in acknowledgment of the praise.]

["To Victoria!"]

["Creating sophisticated electromagnetic pulse illusions at every attack site! Making Fury's own satellite network help us make our deceptions look completely real! That's pure genius!"]

[Quentin Beck pointed to another team member, "Cheers to Janice!"]

["After Tony died, she was the very first person to discover that he didn't entrust E.D.I.T.H. to us, his former employees, or even to the Department of Defense, but to some random teenager!"]

[Janice raised the champagne flute in her hand with satisfaction, "Thank you for recognizing my intelligence work!"]

[Everyone shouted again with malicious glee: "Cheers to Janice!"]

["Cheers to all of you! Tony Stark is finally dead! The door of opportunity has been blown wide open! Someone will definitely step up to fill the power vacuum! But nowadays, even if you're smarter and more professionally qualified than everyone else, no one will take you seriously!"]

["Unless you fly around wearing a dramatic cape! Or shoot impressive lasers from your hands! No one will listen to a word you say!"]

["But now! I have both the cape and the laser powers! With our combined technology, plus complete control of E.D.I.T.H., Mysterio will become the greatest and most beloved hero on Earth!!!"]

["YEAH!!!"]

["And then everyone will listen to me! Not to that paranoid old alcoholic Fury! Not to that naive little brat Parker! But to ME!!! And to my brilliant, wealthy advisors who made all of this possible!"]

[Everyone started laughing with villainous satisfaction.]

["Cheers to us!"]

["Cheers to us!!!"]

["Cheers to the mysterious hero!"]

["Cheers to Mysterio!!!"]

["And to Peter Parker!"]

["Cheers to Peter Parker!!!"]

[Quentin Beck looked down at the celebrating crowd below and muttered to himself with contempt: "Foolish children, all of them!"]

[Then he shouted loudly: "Alright! Celebration's over! Get back to work!"]

"FUCK!"

"Oh my God! This guy is a complete fraud!!!"

"What was the 3rd generation Peter Parker thinking? He actually handed E.D.I.T.H. over to this maniac!"

"Damn it! This is a complete disaster!"

"Quentin Beck is such a manipulative sociopath that he fooled absolutely everyone. I genuinely thought he was a legitimate superhero! I had no idea he was actually a master con artist!"

"Why didn't Peter Parker notice anything suspicious? Isn't Nick Fury supposed to be incredibly perceptive? How did he completely fail to detect the deception? Are Beck's illusions really that realistic?"

At this moment, people all over the world were in complete uproar and began frantically discussing Quentin Beck's elaborate operation of deceiving everyone's trust.

Little Peter Parker was absolutely stunned by the revelation. He had been panicking from the very moment Quentin Beck revealed his true villainous nature. He never could have imagined that his older self had entrusted E.D.I.T.H. to completely the wrong person and personally delivered the world's most dangerous technology to an ambitious megalomaniac.

Aunt May gently touched his head with motherly love, knowing that he must be feeling incredibly uncomfortable and guilty about what he was witnessing.

Nick Fury squinted his one eye with an extremely serious expression. He was wondering if he was really getting too old for this job, or if Quentin Beck's acting performance was simply that convincing. The fact that he hadn't suspected anything at all was completely contrary to his normally paranoid personality!

The veteran spy was deeply puzzled, but he couldn't immediately identify what specific warning signs he should have caught.

Tony's face looked absolutely furious. Although Spider-Man had made the questionable decision to hand E.D.I.T.H. over to Beck earlier, Tony himself hadn't doubted the authenticity of Mysterio's heroic persona, so even though he felt the transfer was inappropriate, he hadn't been truly angry about it.

But now Quentin Beck had blatantly slapped all of them in the face with his deception. Not only had Spider-Man been completely manipulated and played like a puppet, but even Nick Fury, the legendary director of S.H.I.E.L.D., had failed utterly to see through Beck's masterful performance.

This was genuinely shocking and might even cause tremendous damage to Nick Fury's reputation and credibility, since he had demonstrated such poor judgment about people!

Believing the completely ridiculous claims made by a person of completely unknown origins!

This was more than enough ammunition for Nick Fury's political opponents to attack him mercilessly. After all, the devastating civil war within S.H.I.E.L.D. was still fresh in everyone's memory. Even in the newly established S.W.O.R.D. organization, many people still believed that large numbers of Hydra agents were lurking within the ranks.

As for Quentin Beck's bitter accusations and complaints against him personally, Tony didn't take them seriously at all. In all his years as a public figure, when had he ever truly cared about what disgruntled former employees thought of his decisions?

What's more, Quentin Beck had been specifically criticized by his future self as mentally unstable. It was obvious that his future self had discovered Beck's dangerous ambitions and megalomaniacal tendencies, leading to his termination from Stark Industries.

Suddenly Tony thought of something crucial and immediately had Jarvis rewind the footage to analyze it frame by frame. Sure enough, he soon discovered that whether in Venice or Prague, many signs of the supposed Elemental damage could actually be identified as having been caused by projectile weapons and explosives.

When Nick Fury and Agent Hill had driven to the Prague scene, there were spider web cracks visible on their front windshield, which were clearly traces of bullet impacts. Tony had initially assumed they were caused by flying debris, but after careful analysis, he was certain they were from firearms.

And that mysterious object that MJ had picked up in the alley, he could now be completely certain that it was a holographic projector device.

"I really hope Fury is able to find those bullet marks on his vehicle!" Captain America sighed heavily. "Will Nick Fury's legendary reputation be completely destroyed by this?"

Banner still had faith in Nick Fury's analytical abilities, "He should be capable of finding the anomalies if he looks carefully enough!"

Quentin Beck's face had turned absolutely pale with terror. He hadn't expected that everything shown on the mysterious screen would reveal that his entire heroic career was actually an elaborate scam that he had directed and performed himself.

He had just enjoyed a brief, wonderful moment of being the center of worldwide attention and admiration, but that glory was now completely shattered by the subsequent revelations from the screen.

Sitting in her executive office, Pepper immediately gave orders to Happy, the head of Stark Industries security, to detain and control those ambitious conspirators shown on screen who were still employed by their company.

As for those who had already been terminated, such as William, Nick Fury had already dispatched agents to apprehend them as quickly as possible.

As for the revealed conspirators William, Gutman, Janice, Victoria and the others, they all felt as if they had been struck by lightning and that the sky was falling down around them.

In their terrified minds, Quentin Beck's toasts on the screen weren't celebrations at all - he was clearly calling out their names like the King of Hell taking roll call!

Whoever Beck pointed to and named would be marked for doom, and they happened to be the ones specifically identified. They were far more conspicuous than those other team members who had just appeared briefly in the background, and even their specific criminal contributions had been clearly detailed for everyone to see!
