Chapter 392 - Chapter 392: Sokovia is in the Sky

"Will she be okay?" Gwen asked anxiously.

Seeing Wanda fall to the ground, Gwen felt concerned for her. Although Wanda had initially taken the wrong path, she had corrected her course and made amends in time, which had significantly raised Gwen's opinion of her.

"She'll be fine. Don't forget that she appeared during Civil War. She'll make it through this," 1st gen Spiderman reassured her, though he began to wonder about Pietro who hadn't appeared in the Civil War footage.

According to what they'd seen earlier, besides Thor and Banner, Pietro had been notably absent from the conflict. But why? Wanda had joined the Avengers, so it made little sense that Pietro wouldn't have joined as well.

Thor and Banner were easier to explain. One was an alien not bound by Earth's regulations, and the other had always resisted being constrained. Perhaps Banner had already left the Avengers by that time and found a place to live in seclusion—understandable, given the harm he'd caused to innocent people in Johannesburg.

But what about Pietro? There seemed no reason for him not to participate in the Civil War, and 1st gen Spiderman found this puzzling.

["Ultron!" Vision descended slowly from the sky. Seeing this, Ultron also rose to meet him face-to-face: "My Vision! They really did take everything from me!"]

[Vision looked at him calmly and said: "You set the terms. You can change them."]

["All right!" Ultron immediately attacked Vision, grabbing him by the throat, while Vision seized Ultron's face with both hands.]

[Instantly, Vision invaded Ultron's network infrastructure. Ultron was outmatched in this digital domain, so he slammed Vision against a wall, trying desperately to break free from his grip.]

[On the street below, Captain America dispatched the Ultron drone that had just attacked him.]

[Underground, Thor swung Mjölnir, continuously knocking away approaching Ultron drones as he advanced toward his objective.]

[Pietro appeared in a flash before the fleeing crowd, spotted robots emerging from beneath vehicles in the distance, cracked his neck, and rushed toward them—reducing the Ultron drones to scrap metal in an instant.]

[Tony soared through the sky and asked: "FRIDAY! What's Vision's status?"]

["Boss, he's done it! He's burning Ultron out of the net!"]

[The scene shifted to show golden data streams overtaking the previous blue network. Vision released Ultron, temporarily drained of his own combat capabilities.]

[Ultron clutched his head in anger: "You shut me out! You think I care?" He lunged at Vision, driving him into the ground, though Vision's vibranium composition made him impervious to such attacks.]

[Ultron, aware of this futility, didn't waste further effort. After venting his rage, he flew to the device and activated it.]

["You've taken away my world. I'm going to take away yours."]

[Thor, having just arrived underground, looked up at the equipment above him in confusion as it began to activate.]

[Cracks started appearing throughout Sokovia's ground, spreading to encompass most of the town.]

[The entire town shook violently. Barton and Wanda crouched to lower their center of gravity. Even Pietro struggled to maintain his footing.]

[Captain America, standing on a bridge, defeated another Ultron drone, then realized the bridge beneath him was breaking apart. He watched in disbelief as the opposite side began drifting away.]

[Tony frowned and demanded, "FRIDAY?"]

[FRIDAY immediately responded: "Sokovia's going airborne."]

[The camera pulled back to a wide shot, revealing the entire landmass with the town atop it beginning to rise, gradually ascending into the sky. During this process, numerous citizens near the edge plummeted to their deaths.]

[Ultron hovered in the air, watching Sokovia's ascent from a distance: "Do you see the beauty of it? The inevitability? You rise, only to fall. You, Avengers, you are my meteor, my swift and terrible sword."]

[Tony quickly patrolled the rising landmass, desperately trying to formulate a solution.]

["And the earth will crack with the weight of your failure. Purge me from your computers, turn my own flesh against me. It means nothing. When the dust settles, the only thing living in this world will be metal."]

[Barton shot down a chattering Ultron drone with an arrow, only to find another directly behind it, rendering his effort futile.]

[Meanwhile, Banner and Natasha, unaware that Sokovia had risen skyward, sensed something was terribly wrong: "We gotta move."]

[Natasha looked at him: "You're not gonna turn green?"]

[Banner shook his head slightly: "I've got a compelling reason not to lose my cool."]

[Natasha's lips curved slightly: "I adore you." She kissed him, then suddenly pushed Banner into a deep ravine. Banner stared at her in disbelief, realizing she was forcing the Hulk to emerge.]

[As Banner plummeted, Natasha calmly stated: "But I need the other guy."]

[Soon a roar echoed from below, and the Hulk leapt upward, glaring at Natasha.]

[Natasha looked at the Hulk and said quietly: "Let's finish the job."]

[The next moment, Natasha was clinging to Hulk's back as he carried her toward the increasingly elevated Sokovia.]

[Hulk smashed through trees blocking their path. When they landed, the impact was so forceful that Natasha couldn't maintain her grip and was thrown forward, rolling several times across the ground.]

[Fortunately, she wasn't seriously injured. She held her side and looked at Hulk: "I really hope this makes us even. Now go be a hero."]

[Hulk roared and immediately charged in one direction, while Natasha ran off in another.]

"It seems Natasha couldn't stay on the sidelines after all. She deliberately forced the Hulk out so Banner wouldn't have to blame himself for potentially harming civilians!" Dr. Otto Octavius observed, understanding Natasha's strategy.

"He made an entire town fly into the sky! How did Ultron even do that?" 1st gen Spiderman marveled, well aware of how massive such a landmass would be, and how unstable soil typically was. Yet somehow Ultron had managed to lift it intact.

"I don't know! Don't ask me!" Otto shrugged helplessly. "They have all kinds of advanced technology there, including alien tech. Maybe that's what made it possible! Plus, there's that vibranium."

Dr. Connors, who had been quiet for some time, nodded in agreement, equally baffled by the feat they were witnessing.

They didn't fully understand vibranium's capabilities, but that didn't diminish their curiosity about it. Clearly, Ultron had implied that vibranium was the key to his extraordinary achievement.
