Chapter 270 - Chapter 270: Another Earth

Wanda shot Cece a mildly reproachful glare. "What's going on? Why are you in such a panic?"

Clutching her waist and catching her breath, Cece stammered, "Wanda—Professor Wanda, there's... there's a planet! It just appeared in the sky out of nowhere! And it's getting closer!"

"A planet? What are you talking about?" Wanda frowned. She understood the words, but the meaning was so outlandish, she couldn't process it.

"Professor, just come outside and see for yourself."

As she spoke, Cece reached out to grab Wanda's hand.

"Alright, alright, I'll take a look."

Wanda brushed off Cece's hand and turned toward the balcony.

As soon as she stepped outside, she saw it—suspended in the sky, not far above, was a massive blue planet, unmistakably Earth-like. It was growing larger by the second, its seven continents and four oceans becoming increasingly clear.

Another Earth?

Wanda couldn't make sense of it—how could this even be possible?

As the two planets inched dangerously close, a radiant white barrier suddenly shimmered into existence, halting what would've been a catastrophic collision.

A voice crackled through her communicator. "Wanda, Dr. Wim just called. That other Earth is on a collision course with us. The planetary defense system is operating at full capacity. The Skrulls have already launched an expedition to investigate the source."

"Understood." Wanda's eyes scanned the smoke-filled chaos below. Fights had broken out across the city. She grimaced. "Deploy more units. Deal with the looters."

The anomaly in the sky was visible to all. Earth's magnetic field had become unstable, throwing global communications into disarray. Panic swept through the populace, worse than any alien invasion they'd faced before. After all, if two planets collided, it would mean total annihilation—no survivors, no future.

The darker sides of human nature surfaced in full. Riots erupted in the streets. Superheroes rushed to contain the chaos. Even the students of the Mutant Academy were fully mobilized, but it wasn't enough.

Outside New York, inside a heavily fortified base, things were different. The looming celestial crisis hadn't shaken the personnel within. They had faith in their company's tech—faith that it could avert the end of the world.

Inside the underground command center, Dr. Wim barked orders across the hall.

"Move it, people! You want Earth turned into space debris? Then hustle!"

Sweat beaded across Dr. Wim's face as he stared at the screen. The alien Earth was rapidly breaching the outer limits of their planetary defense system.

Across the globe, satellites had gone dark. Only a single satellite—launched recently by Azeroth Technologies and embedded with Titan tech—remained operational, feeding a constant stream of space data to the command center.

As the two Earths' atmospheres began to interact, a golden membrane enveloped one of them, cushioning the impact and pushing the second planet back with a repelling force.

Some of the staff exhaled in quiet relief.

"What's the energy status? If this happens again, can the shield hold?"

"Dr. Wim, all systems nominal. The planetary defense system is holding. Even if it happens again, we'll manage!"

The young technician gave a celebratory whisper. Against all odds, it looked like humanity had avoided annihilation—for now. That shield had just repelled a planetary collision.

"I need to notify Big Boss Kingpin immediately."

Wim grabbed his phone and punched in a number.

Meanwhile, on the other Earth, chaos reigned as well. Superheroes were stretched thin trying to maintain order.

Inside Bax Tower, Dr. Reed Richards was at his workstation, rapidly typing as a dizzying cascade of data flooded his monitors. A few others crowded around, their brows furrowed in confusion.

Most of this Earth's satellites had been rendered useless too. Only one remained—Reed's private satellite, which allowed him to keep tabs on what was happening overhead.

"Director Fury," Reed began gravely, "this is another Earth—pulled in from a parallel universe. Someone forced open a passage between realities and dragged that planet here."

Such an act could only mean one thing: someone with immense power was manipulating the multiverse. But who? And for what purpose? Could they even be stopped?

No one had an answer.

Fury sat on the couch, scowling, chain-smoking in silence.

"Wait—what's this?"

Reed suddenly leaned in, his expression shifting to alarm.

Between the two nearly-colliding Earths, a glowing barrier had appeared, pushing the twin planets apart.

Before he could investigate further, a new alert flashed onto another monitor. A spaceship was speeding toward their Earth—from the direction of the second moon.

"Something's coming from the other moon," Reed said, jolting Fury from his thoughts.

A holographic projection displayed the spacecraft as it hurtled through space.

"Can you enhance the image?" Fury shot to his feet, tension etched across his face.

The projection sharpened. Fury's eyes narrowed, fists clenched.

"Skrulls," he growled, slamming a fist on the table, startling the room. He reached for his phone, only to remember—no signal.

Ben Grimm, the Thing, rumbled, "Skrulls? No way they have that kind of tech. If they did, the Kree wouldn't have driven them into hiding."

"Doesn't matter if it should be possible. We have to be ready," Fury snapped. "Don't forget what they did to us. Especially that Super-Skrull."

That shapeshifter—capable of mimicking any hero and stealing their powers—had nearly torn the Avengers apart. Only under Norman Osborn's ruthless leadership were they able to eliminate that threat.

"They're coming. I'll go greet them," said Johnny Storm, the Human Torch. Without waiting, he ignited into flame and shot out the window.

"Hey! Get back here!" Susan Storm cried, trying to restrain him with a force field, but he slipped through.

She gritted her teeth in frustration. Her brother's recklessness hadn't changed. But she couldn't just leave him out there alone.

"Get every available superhero assembled. Those Skrulls need a reminder of what Earth can do."
