Emily Sterling heard the sounds of things being smashed inside the room and quickly got up, running to the door of Chloe Simpson's room.
She didn't speak but instead pressed her ear to the door, listening to the commotion inside.
Soon, she heard a heavy thud, as if something fell to the ground.
"Chloe!"
Emily's heart tightened, and she hurried to the living room to find the key and unlock Chloe's room door.
Sure enough, as soon as she opened the door, she saw Chloe had cut the major artery in her wrist and was lying on the ground.
"Chloe!"
Emily dared not hesitate for a moment and pulled out her phone to dial 911 directly.
An hour later, Chloe's wound was already treated, and Emily stayed by Chloe's side.
She was filled with regret and self-blame, never thinking Chloe would do such a thing.
At 8 p.m., Chloe woke up.
She smelled disinfectant and knew she was in the hospital.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Emily.
