The one who wants Chu Beiqing's life is precisely the Empress.
In those years, the Poison Saint was not yet as powerful as she is now. She was in Tuyuan Country, urgently needing a sum of money due to power struggles.
At that time, the Empress discovered a big secret and wanted to eliminate Chu Beiqing directly.
But she was worried about Emperor Longteng's suspicions and couldn't act on her own, so she eventually contacted the Poison Saint.
The Poison Saint sent several groups of people to attempt the assassination, all of which failed.
Finally, the Poison Saint took action personally, coordinating inside and out, and under the pretext of quelling war chaos, successfully made a move on Chu Beiqing.
Thus, several years ago, Chu Beiqing was injured and became a fool.
The Empress was also cautious and had the Poison Saint hold back, deliberately letting Chu Beiqing live a little longer. Unexpectedly, this delay stretched on for so many years.
Chu Beiqing has yet to die.
