This woman was of advanced age, with silver threads flowing at her temples, and her brows and eyes bore the traces of time. Yet, one could faintly discern her youthful beauty, her eyes and brows looking kindly at the young lady before her.
"Our little Yu'er has been away for half a month and seems to have grown thinner," the elderly woman softly said, raising her hand to touch the girl's cheek, her eyes warm like the spring sun.
"Auntie, when I left, you were fine. Why wasn't I informed sooner so I could come back to see you?" Li Yu gently blamed herself, holding the old woman's hand with her own.
"I told them not to tell you. It's rare for you to go out and visit friends, so you should see more of the world outside. Don't let this deep courtyard stifle our little Yu'er's future."
"My illness isn't serious."
The elderly woman smiled, looking as though she felt fine. She withdrew her hand to pat Li Yu's hand, holding it tightly, her kindly eyes full of affection for Li Yu.
