Little Eve was just about to pull down the leaves covering them when a shout suddenly came from behind.
"Eve."
It was Mrs. Carter's voice.
Mrs. Carter had finished her prayers, turned back to find her granddaughter missing, and called out urgently.
As soon as Little Eve heard her grandmother's voice, she immediately stopped and, with her chubby little legs, ran towards Mrs. Carter with a pitter-patter.
Emily Parker secretly breathed a sigh of relief, but a trace of wistful sadness flickered across her face, her eyes tightly tracking the small figure.
"Mom, was that my sister just now? Why didn't we go see her?"
Little Aaron turned his head, looking in the direction the little girl had gone, his eyes sparkling and full of joy—his sister was as cute as he was!
Emily glanced down at her son, her lips moving but unable to find the words.
She didn't know how to explain to her young son the complicated and entangled grievances between her and Carlos.
