"Beep... Beep..."
The pale corridor light spread along the traces of disinfectant, finally stopping before the scarlet-wrapped words "In Surgery".
The red light resembled the Grim Reaper's scythe, perched mockingly at the throat of the patient inside and the hearts of the family members outside.
Earlier, a middle-aged man sat scatter-eyed on the ground, leaning against the white wall, lost in thought.
"Beep!"
The next second, the light in the operating room changed, and the door opened outward from inside.
The man didn't stand up; he just quietly raised his eyes to look at the masked doctor walking out.
"..."
"I'm sorry..."
The doctor looked at the man sitting on the ground, squatted down to be at the same height, and said afterwards,
"The cancer cells have metastasized to too many places. Your mother experienced severe abdominal bleeding from intense movement and emotional agitation in a short time. We did our best."
