Moments later, Ronan lifted his head and said thoughtfully, "Is it because of Grace?"
This question seemed like a meaningless repetition, as Selena had just mentioned that it was not solely because of Grace.
However, when Ronan brought up Grace again, Selena nodded.
"You're a smart man."
Selena's tone seemed to soften a bit, "Grace is very important to me, in ways you cannot comprehend.
And you are important to Grace. She is very lonely... You understand what I mean, right?"
"I understand."
Ronan nodded, "So Grace is responsible for keeping you company, and I am responsible for being Grace's companion?"
Selena seemed to pick up on something in Ronan's words that made her slightly uncomfortable, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.
Selena frowned and said calmly, "You can temporarily think of it that way, but what I actually mean is not as indifferent as you might imagine....
