Chapter 15 - How Did We Get Here [6 the end]

"If Mary Jane is still married to me, then why did she tell me she's married to Paul... damn Paul."

Peter closed his eyes for a moment, trying to suppress the surge of emotions rising inside him. Then he opened them slowly, revealing a different look — the look of a man who had left mercy behind, even if only temporarily.

"As long as Mary Jane is in danger, there's no place for weakness."

SCENE CHANGE

In the rainy sky, a black shadow was seen darting between the skyscrapers at incredible speed. It wasn't the usual web-slinging sound, but the sound of air being torn apart — a motion unlike anything the city's residents had ever seen.

Spider-Man reached the rooftop where the battle had taken place. There was no hesitation in his steps as he advanced toward Green Goblin and the cloned version of Mary Jane with firm determination.

"You?! That's... that's impossible!" said the Goblin, stepping back slightly, unable to believe what he was seeing.

But Spider-Man didn't answer. His silence was his reply, and the cold look in his eyes was more deadly than any words.

"You gave up that side of yourself... why return to it?" asked Green Goblin, a flicker of doubt in her voice.

"Because you made it personal," he said quietly, but the echo of his words roared like thunder.

Suddenly, the Green Goblin began laughing maniacally, her expression twisting from shock to madness.

"Yes, yes! This is what I wanted — a broken spider! Hahaha! Come on, show me how far you've fallen!"

She lunged at Spider-Man on her glider with terrifying speed.

She-Hulk had also just arrived and was shocked to see Spider-Man in the black suit fighting Green Goblin. She intended to help but saw this as her chance to enter and explore the place, and hopefully free the woman inside.

She leapt down to the street, smashing into it, and entered the building. After getting the address, she quickly jumped inside.

But the building was empty. Thanks to her super hearing, she could detect faint creaks below.

She-Hulk gathered her strength into her fist and punched the ground, shattering it and dropping down — only to find herself in a corridor.

Jennifer moved quickly through the hallway, following the sound until she reached a metal door.

"Is anyone here?"

She tried to focus her hearing and could make out someone breathing heavily behind the door.

Jennifer smashed the door off its hinges, only to find herself face-to-face with a red-haired girl — the same woman she had seen in Peter's marriage files.

Bruce Banner's cousin was about to approach Mary Jane, but suddenly, she was punched so hard she flew through the wall on the other side.

The clone of Mary Jane stepped forward with an expressionless face. Paul stood behind her.

"Damn, they found out earlier than expected," Paul muttered with irritation.

He looked at Jennifer and ordered the clone, "Take care of her."

The clone advanced toward She-Hulk, while Paul went to the real Mary Jane, who could barely move from hunger.

"I'm getting you out of here. Looks like your boyfriend finally figured it out," Paul said, slinging her over his shoulder and leaving the basement as the place trembled. Mary Jane didn't resist — too weak to fight back.

Meanwhile, She-Hulk struggled against the clone. Every time she touched the clone, it felt like her gamma energy was being absorbed.

The clone grew stronger as Jennifer weakened.

Her strength fading, Jennifer took a final blow that sent her crashing through another wall and losing consciousness midair. Her skin became paler.

[END OF FLASHBACK : Back on the rooftop, Green Goblin revealed the fake Mary Jane inside a glass cage.]

Spider-Man was stunned, but before he could respond, the restraints on the cage shattered, and the clone lunged out like a demonic shadow, eyes glowing a menacing red.

"That's not Mary Jane!" Spider-Man shouted, stepping back.

"Of course it isn't," the Goblin said with a wicked laugh. "But she's the perfect weapon against you!"

The fight erupted between Spider-Man and the evil clone. She was fast and unnaturally strong, every move filled with hatred and deception — and she seemed to know all his weaknesses.

While fighting, Spider-Man heard a faint voice from the side. She-Hulk, barely conscious, extended her hand.

"Peter... it's a trick... the real Mary Jane... is somewhere else..."

But her words were drowned by the noise of the battle. The clone lunged at Spider-Man, wielding a small blade glowing with green energy.

He barely dodged, but part of the blade slashed his side, leaving a deep, bleeding wound.

"Is that all you've got, Peter?" the clone taunted, her face turning more sinister.

"Where is she?!" Spider-Man shouted, now face-to-face with her.

"You'll never reach her," she answered with a wicked grin. "But I'll be the last thing you ever see."

Then Goblin attacked again from behind, throwing pumpkin bombs. The explosions shook the building, forcing Spider-Man to retreat once more.

"Feeling powerless now, Peter?" Goblin said, slowly approaching. "I've taken everything from you. And now, I'll take your life too."

But Spider-Man wasn't ready to give up. He seized a moment of distraction, lunged at Goblin, and grabbed the glider with his black webbing, pulling it toward him.

"Game over, Norman!" he shouted as he yanked the glider.

But the evil clone intervened again, delivering a powerful blow that sent Spider-Man crashing next to She-Hulk.

"Don't give up..." She-Hulk said weakly, reaching for him. "She's in... the underground lab..."

Spider-Man heard her, but there was no time to think. The clone and Goblin were closing in, ready to finish him off.

"I can't let this continue," Peter muttered to himself, struggling to stand. "If the real Mary Jane is there... I'll find her."

With all his strength, he leapt toward the evil clone, using his black suit to boost his power. The attack was fierce, sending her flying into the Goblin and knocking them both down.

He seized the opportunity, grabbed She-Hulk, and jumped from the building toward the street. He had to find that lab — before it was too late.

"You're not getting away that easily, Peter!" Goblin screamed from above, regaining balance on the glider. "This fight isn't over!"
