Chapter 18 - PART EIGHTEEN: REASSURANCE.

At home, Kara kept replaying everything in her mind — the moment she died, her encounter with Todd, and her fight with Becky.

"Hey, sweetie, we're out of milk. Could you pick some up at the grocery store? I'm tired," Nareen called down from the stairs.

Kara didn't respond. Instead, she quietly picked out a blue pair of shorts and a jersey from her wardrobe and slowly made her way downstairs.

"Oh! That was quick. Here, I'm sorry to bother you," Nareen said, handing Kara some money.

As Kara crossed the street, feeling hollow, a gentle tap on her shoulder startled her.

It was Angel Haniel — no wings, no glowing robes — just a woman in a simple white shirt. She looked serene and kind.

"Hello, Kara. Let's talk at the grocery store," Haniel said with a warm smile.

Kara's heart skipped a beat. She followed Haniel quietly to the store.

"Kara, I know everything that's happened. We all do. Your time isn't up yet. There's still hope for you," Haniel said softly. "When you told God you were sorry, you took the first step toward salvation. So don't skip school, and don't lock yourself away. God is with you."

Kara felt a flicker of hope. But when she turned to respond, Haniel was gone.

With newfound joy, Kara stepped into the grocery store, bought two cans of milk, and hurried back home.

Back at the house, Nareen heard the doorbell and went to answer.

"What's wrong with Kara? Why all this stress..." Nareen began, but froze the moment she opened the door.

It wasn't Kara at the door — it was her old friends.

"Good day, Mrs. Williams. May we come in?" Hannah asked politely.

Nareen stepped aside to let them in but left the door open.

"Are you here to see me? Because I doubt you came for Kara," Nareen said with an awkward smile.

"We're here to see Kara," Hannah replied. "She's been missing school, rumors say she's broken with her group, and she's been acting… strangely."

"In what way, exactly?" Nareen asked.

"In every way," Iris answered from the doorway.

Everyone turned to look at her.

"I'm sorry to intrude, but I need to speak with Kara," Iris said again.

"Well, it looks like everyone's here for Kara," Nareen said playfully, "I just hope my daughter is safe."

They all laughed quietly.
