Chapter 220 - 220. Hoshigaki Kisame

When Namikaze Minato Was Getting Married

During Namikaze Minato's wedding celebrations, his student Uchiha Obito was carrying out unspeakable horrors in Kirigakure.

In just a few days, Obito had managed to control Yagura, the Fourth Mizukage, and led his ninja forces to massacre Kirigakure's bloodline clans.

Obito wasn't acting hastily without reason—he understood that to eliminate ninja clans effectively, speed was essential. If the clans had time to react, they would certainly unite and resist.

After days of relentless slaughter, the rivers of Kirigakure ran red with blood. The entire village carried the faint metallic scent of death in the air.

Now, Obito decided it was time for a brief respite. The elimination of the bloodline clans had progressed smoothly mainly because of his surprise attacks. With the remaining ninjas now on high alert, continuing at the same pace would be difficult. He needed to be patient.

During this time, Obito noticed a suitable candidate to join the Akatsuki organization.

Under the cover of darkness, Hoshigaki Kisame, a Kiri ninja, killed several guards and entered a secured building.

Kisame approached a door secured with chains. He took out a kunai and cut through them with a single powerful strike. Pushing the door open, he entered the room.

Inside, weapon racks displayed several masterless swords from the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. Kisame walked directly to one particular sword—the blade that once belonged to the Demon of the Hidden Mist who had been killed in battle.

Samehada, the shark skin sword.

Kisame pulled Samehada from its rack and secured it to his back. Just as he was about to leave, a voice spoke from behind him.

"You're doing quite well, Kisame."

Kisame spun around immediately, his right hand already gripping Samehada's handle.

"I guessed you would try to sneak in here while we were eliminating the bloodline clans," continued the voice. "According to our current policy of survival of the fittest, since you've successfully claimed Samehada, you are now its rightful master—and also my subordinate."

Yagura, the Fourth Mizukage, stepped out from the shadows.

Kisame showed a sarcastic smile. "Until I'm also eliminated by you? Fourth Mizukage-sama?"

"I know your character, which is why I trust you," Yagura replied. "Only after completing countless dirty tasks for your country and village—after betraying so many to complete your missions—do you understand that this world is nothing but a lie."

Kisame looked directly into Yagura's eyes and said solemnly, "I understood that when I first killed my comrades. As a Mist ninja, I've had to kill fellow Mist shinobi. So, who am I really? Friend or foe? Where do I stand? Where can I find peace? The only thing I can truly feel is my own falseness!"

Kisame stretched out his hands, staring at them. These hands were stained with the blood of his companions.

Uchiha Obito appeared silently behind Yagura.

"Then let me free you from this false pain. I will build a place for you," he said.

Kisame gripped his sword handle warily. "Who are you?!"

"Start with this country," Obito offered. "You've been fighting and killing your companions, but from now on, you will fight as my companion."

Kisame frowned. "You seem to trust me, but I don't even know who you are..."

Suddenly, Kisame noticed a scarlet eye glowing in the darkness.

"Those eyes shining in the darkness... I see now. The person I've always viewed as the Fourth Mizukage was actually you all along. I never expected you were controlling the Fourth with your Sharingan. Hmph, this world truly is fake."

Kisame narrowed his eyes. "But who are you to possess power that can control a Jinchūriki of the Three-Tails?"

"Uchiha... Madara!" Obito declared.

Kisame's small eyes widened with disbelief. However, he quickly regained his composure.

"That great shinobi died long ago. I can't trust you. Show me your true identity!"

"Very well. Believe me or not, it's your choice."

Obito stepped forward and removed his mask. However, what Kisame saw wasn't Obito's true face, but the face of Uchiha Madara—a genjutsu created by Obito.

After replacing his mask, Obito began explaining the "Eye of the Moon Plan" to Kisame.

Upon hearing about the Tsuki no Me Project, Kisame's first thought was that this man was insane.

"Are you still in your right mind?" Kisame couldn't help but ask.

"That is precisely my goal! Project Tsuki no Me! A real world without falsehood! A world without war, without pain—only happiness!" Obito proclaimed.

A hint of madness flickered in Kisame's small eyes as he smiled. "Hearing what you've said, I want to see this world you speak of!"

"Well then, welcome to our cause, Kisame!"

With Kisame now part of his plan, Obito continued his campaign in Kirigakure, with Kisame as his new ally in the bloodshed.

Meanwhile, Yahiko faced a major crisis of his own—they had run out of money again!

After receiving Sora's two million ryō on Tanshu Street, Yahiko, Ye Cang, and Black Hoe Leiya had enjoyed a few days of luxury and comfort. There was nothing wrong with treating themselves occasionally.

But then Black Hoe Leiya suggested trying to win back the thousand ryō he had previously lost at the casino.

This proved to be a path of no return.

At first, the three of them actually won money at the casino. But as time passed, their luck seemed to run out. They lost more and more until they were down to their last 50,000 ryō.

Frustrated by their losses, the three bet everything they had left.

The result was predictable—they lost it all.

With deep regret and embarrassment, the three left Tuanchu Street, feeling ashamed. Having just received Sora's two million ryō, they were too embarrassed to ask for more. Their only option was to work hard finding missions to earn commission.

If Sora knew about this, he would surely be disappointed and might even scold all three of them for being so careless with their responsibilities.

In a strange way, this setback put them on the right path. After running out of money, the three finally decided to take their work seriously.

The night after Namikaze Minato's wedding, within the Hyuga clan compound, Hyuga Hiashi summoned his brother Hyuga Hizashi for a private meeting.

The twin brothers sat across from each other at a table, yet they might as well have been separated by a vast chasm.

Though they were brothers, they seemed to have nothing to say to one another.
