I sat on my bed, thinking things over. First things first: check my new memories. Which were kinda sad, not gonna lie.
So, here is the rundown:
My name is Shiro Mizuki. I am 15 years old and in my last year of middle school. There are about six months left until the UA entrance exams, so I have some time to fill until then.
Next up: family. Or more accurately, the lack of one.
Both my parents are dead, courtesy of a villain attack. Supposedly, I am under the care of my uncle, but I have never actually met the guy. He is not exactly a deadbeat in the traditional sense since he sends me enough money to live on, plus a little extra. But let's be real. "Work" is not an excuse to completely ignore your niece's existence. But it's good for me.
School life can be summed up as lazy genius. My routine was simple: go to school, put in the bare minimum effort, then go home and game until my eyes burned. Somehow, I still passed everything, which gave the teachers all the excuse they needed to completely ignore me.
Then, before the first term of my last year, I decided I had enough. I dropped out, switched to online school, and gave myself more time to do whatever I wanted. Honestly, I would do the same thing if it were me before all this, but still, kind of sad.
With that sorted, it was time to test my powers.
I hopped off the bed and stood up, raising a hand toward the cup on my desk. Focus...
It was instant. I could feel it, like my mind was physically touching it. Weird, but cool. I flicked my finger upward, and the cup shot up before stopping just short of slamming into the ceiling.
"Siiiick. It's like Sans," I muttered, ignoring the grin creeping onto my face.
The intrusive thought of smashing the cup into the wall was tempting, but I decided to behave like the good little teenager I was. For now.
I willed the cup back onto the desk Bang. It hit a little harder than I meant, but hey, learning curves are learning.
Next up: portals. because portals are fun. look at glados.
I scanned the room, then my eyes locked on the rooftop of the building next door through the window. Perfect target.
"Alright... let's see..."
I extended my hand and focused, picturing how portals usually look in fiction, ripping open space with a glowing edge. After a moment, a swirling circle of light with a faint, sparkly void outline formed. Through it, I could see the rooftop and the street below.
I leaned forward, poking my head through. The wind hit me instantly. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted the window I had been looking through earlier, and in it, I saw myself, bending over into a portal.
My brain short-circuited as I watched my lower half leaning over, and of course with my refined humour, I obviously didn't laug-
"Hehhaha, I'm literally peeping on myself," I giggled, pulling back. With a wave, the portal vanished.
Still chuckling, I sat back. "Why was that so funny?" I muttered. Then shrugged. "Doesn't matter. Time to mess with time... okay, that sounded weird. Whatever."
I picked up the cup again, this time focusing on freezing everything. In an instant, the world around me stopped. The cup hung mid-air, perfectly still.
I crouched to inspect it, poking it gently. The second I touched it, time resumed for just the cup, letting it fall an inch before freezing again.
"Hmm... like Homura. But I should be able to..."
I lifted it higher, willing it to remain frozen even in my hands. Success.
"Nice. This is either a prankster's dream or a creep's favourite power. Hopefully, I'm the first one." I set the cup back and let time flow normally.
"Well, that's enough for now," I muttered, plopping into my gaming chair, a big black spinny one with a high back that was way too comfortable.
I booted up the PC. "Guess I'll see what games this world has. I've got all the time in the world."
And with that, I spent the rest of the day gaming.
