Chapter 107 - 107: Peace with violence!

How could we forget Avatar? Avatar Aang was also surrounded, but the irony was much greater this time because the people who did it were wearing clothes from the three existing nations.

Each of them was a bender. Aang could only make a strange face at having to face three of the four elements at the same time. What he couldn't understand was the hatred on their faces.

'To think that I, who am supposed to keep the elements and the world in balance, have to face three groups of enemies who use elements is really ironic, but... why are they looking at me like that?' He had a basic understanding of Waterbending and Earthbending, but he was concerned about Firebending.

Katara and Shisui had both told him about Waterbending, its philosophy, and its approach to seeing the world and dealing with situations. In fact, he could perform waterbending himself, though he was clumsy and could barely manipulate a sphere of water.

However, because Waterbending's philosophy was relatively close to Airbending's, he understood water much better than earth, which was already giving him problems due to their completely different points of view.

He had also spoken with Toph and Lao Ge, who had told him the basics of earthbending. However, just hearing that he had to 'stay firm and static' confused him because, unlike airbending, which is much freer, earth needs an anchor or support to operate.

If he wanted to support Katara, though, he had to incapacitate these people, whether or not they understood the elements. At this point, he didn't know that his partner was under Mai's tutelage and that she was developing interestingly.

But despite everything, Aang still clung to the values of his culture. He refused to take the lives of his enemies and only did so in self-defense.

To prevent his ideals from hindering him, Shisui once told Aang the story of a man without bending abilities who shared his philosophy. The story struck a chord with Avatar Aang because he saw a path he could follow, even if it meant bending his pacifism slightly.

'Although somewhat cruel, the methods of this Brut Wine are quite useful for this occasion,' Aang recalled. The stories were about a man who, despite being a non-bender, dispensed justice to criminal benders using drastic means.

Shisui gave Aang a complete breakdown of many ways to 'convince' others. These methods were practically forms of torture that did not result in death but caused great pain and physical harm.

Aang felt that many of these methods were truly cruel and that he could not carry them out without feeling nauseous. However, Shisui also told him about other methods he could use because the sage knew he would choose those options. After all, he would end up...

By beating his enemies until they surrendered! Then, Aang leaped, propelling his body with a gust of wind, ready to bring the brutality of Brutt Wine to this era.

'It seems that violence is the only answer this time. I hope my next enemies are more willing to listen,' thought the Avatar as he lunged toward his enemies, embodying the wrath of the wind.

"Beware of the Avatar!" a Firebender with burn scars on her face and shaved patches on her scalp from her injuries exclaimed.

"Hey, I slept in the ice for a long time. I don't understand why you hate me. Could you explain it to me?" Wanting to know more about his enemies, Aang asked this question as he approached a man wearing Earth Kingdom clothing who was holding a heavy metal mace for some strange reason.

"How dare you ask that question? YOU WERE GONE FOR 100 YEARS!" the man shouted, striking the ground hard and creating spikes of rock that shot toward the Avatar.

"I..." Aang couldn't find the words to respond because the Earthbender was right. He had been absent from the world for a century, causing many problems.

As he created a whirlwind to deflect the rocks thrown at him, he threw his body backward, keeping his legs on the ground, to dodge a jet of fire.

Then, he placed his free hand on the ground, rotating his body to stand on his head. As he spun, he created a tornado that protected him from water whips, rocks, and more fireballs.

He then created a dome of air extending outside his body, clearing everything around him and leaving room to move. He took his glider with both hands and stared intently at his enemies.

"I'm back, and I plan to help the world. It's my duty as the Avatar to make up for disappearing and to make the world a better place. Do we need to be enemies?" Aang asked again. This time, it was a waterbender wearing a strange outfit made of forest materials, such as leaves and vines.

"It's easy, Avatar. Your absence made some of us open our eyes. Why should we have waited for you to stop the Fire Nation?

Do we always have to rely on the Avatar when something goes wrong in the world? This time, it was the Fire Nation; in a few years, it could be the Earth Kingdom or the Northern Water Tribe.

Even worse, no one knows what cataclysm or cosmic event could happen. Does humanity need to lose its initiative just because you have to act every time, Avatar?" The man's words made Aang uncomfortable, but he quickly recovered.

It wasn't the first time he had heard these kinds of questions. One of Shisui's teachings was about this type of questioning. In fact, the Sage himself had asked Aang and the other Avatars similar questions, some of which were incredibly sharp.

"Actually, it's not that I want to be the Avatar, you know? I didn't wake up one day saying, 'I want to get involved in other people's lives and problems,'" Aang grumbled in response. His enemies looked at each other because of all the answers they could have expected, this was not one of them.

"I ran away. I admit it; I've never denied it. I was afraid of the responsibility that fell on the Avatar's shoulders. I was afraid of failing. I couldn't handle the pressure, so I hid. You may have suffered because of my actions... but I did too.

MY ENTIRE TOWN WAS REDUCED TO ASHES! My culture was barely preserved, and I was the only one left. Me! I am the only remaining member of four temples full of people!

The last time I saw those people was a few weeks ago, but for the rest of the world, for everyone else... One hundred years have passed. Only traces of what I once knew remain.

Yet here I am, wanting to understand this new world. I want to connect with the nation that reduced my people to nothing. I seek peace to become commonplace again.

May this time, when peace was an elusive concept for the suffering, become an everyday occurrence once again. The Avatar embodies the opportunity for a solution to problems.

I am not a problem solver; I am a last resort. I teach, but I must also learn. I must get along with everyone, and everyone must understand me. The Avatar seeks balance, but this changes with each generation. Now, the world needs something as basic as...

Hope. It's something that was lost along with peace and tranquility. I am not the one who will bring it back, but I will promote it. To those who have suffered, I cannot say that I understand, but I have suffered too.

However, I chose the path of construction. Which path have you chosen? You know what? I don't care. I'll prove my peaceful point of view to you by FORCE!" The Avatar exclaimed. This time, the smile that always graced his face disappeared, leaving only a serious expression.

"The Avatar knows how to argue, but that doesn't change anything. Only by ceasing to depend on figures like you can humanity prosper and people like me obtain peace," said the Firebender, touching her burned face.

"Avatar, if it weren't for our collective dependence on you, these marks would not be on my body," she murmured angrily. The fire in her fists burned more intensely. Although the flames were still orange, their intensity was high due to her emotions.

Thus, the battle began again, but this time, Aang was not on the defensive. He moved toward and between his enemies at great speed, propelled by the wind that always accompanied him.

Meanwhile, the members of the Red Lotus tried by any means necessary to hurt the Avatar. Many of them knew they could not kill him; that was not their responsibility. In fact, this fight was not meant to be deadly.

Hidden in the shadows in the distance was a figure using a telescope and writing down everything he saw. This person did everything possible to remain unnoticed.

They saw how Aang used the wind to enhance his martial arts skills. As an Airbender, he knew martial arts. He had been trained since childhood.

However, according to the philosophy of his people, these arts were learned for physical conditioning, self-reflection, and a connection with nature and the spiritual world.

After outwitting his enemies, he struck them hard with those movements, and then a series of actions began that made this spy feel deep terror. Avatar Aang began disarticulating the limbs of the Red Lotus members who had fallen under his power.

There was no blood, dismemberment, or deliberate torture; just the Avatar striking at key points. After a blood-curdling snap, the pain of a broken bone or dislocation set in.

Additionally, Aang demonstrated the power of Airbending. Because the Air Nomads were pacifists, no one took their war potential seriously. After 100 years without contact with the Airbenders, no one was accustomed to their strange movements on the battlefield.

However, it wasn't just the Avatar's way of moving; it was also how terrifying Airbending could be. No one expected him to cut off the scarred Firebender woman's air supply to avoid her continuous attacks.

With a few movements, he created a dome around her and slowly absorbed the oxygen in the air. He did not create a vacuum, which would have been lethal, but he did cause the Firebender to pass out.

The spy realized something important: they were lucky the Avatar respected their culture and didn't kill. If it were Avatar Yangchen, just thinking about it made the spy tremble with a deep chill.

"I would tremble like that, too," a voice interrupted the spy's thoughts. When they turned to see who was speaking, they felt pain in his chest.

"Damn Dai-Li! I can detect them no matter how well they hide. Let me show you how Avatar Kyoshi finished off her opponents. I froze your heart." Those were the last words that person heard before realizing that the one who killed him was someone he knew very well.

Shisui. After catching his fiancée, he chose to support his other companions, including Aang. But first, he took care of the person monitoring the Avatar.

He had copied a technique Avatar Kyoshi used to kill Yun, the fake Avatar. Shisui froze the spy's heart and took the notebook he had been using. He noticed the spy's records of Aang's abilities.

"Oh, at least they've become more capable. But if there's one Dai-Li, there must be more, like cockroaches. It seems I must keep searching." Shisui ignored the cries of pain from the Red Lotus members who fell tragically at Aang's hands.

Shisui wandered through Agna Qel'a and came across a fight between a Firebender and an Earthbender. Shisui decided to observe how Toph fought. She was clear proof that nothing could stop her from being the best at what she did.

"It seems that trying to keep this girl out of danger is useless. Never mind. Just let me see how you fight before I continue," Shisui muttered as he sat on the edge of an icy building and watched the battle between the two girls unfold.

AN: Sorry for the speach, Red Lotus in this fanfic has a lot of motives, some of then are related for the 100 years without the Avatar. Also, Avatar Aang is a complicated character, not only for his personality, but all the things around him and his situation are complicated. And yes... THERE'S A AIRBENDER! FLIYING IN HIS BISON!

Ok stop xD! Air Nomads were inspired in Shaolin Monks, that's clear, right? Avatar Kyoshi killed Yun by frozen his heart, you can search it. Also, there are a healing techinques: you low the body temperature of the wounded person, at least, you can extend their life in a dangerous situation.
