Chapter 113 - Senate [1]

"What do you mean you want to support 'Princess of Fools'?! Have you both lost your minds?!" Milan shouted, his voice echoing through the mansion.

"It is as you heard... Have you seen that woman?!" Volt shouted.

Jole stood aside, his gaze focused on the duo arguing, he would support Aurelia no matter what.

Not only that, Raguel had promised him protection from other nobles if he offered full support.

He crossed his arms as he leaned against the wall, 'Someone as powerful as that woman protecting my family...'

If someone like her would agree to be a mother to his daughters, he could die peacefully.

When they had their lunch, he quickly agreed to report any noble actions to Raguel, and in exchange, she would visit him after the senate had concluded.

Overall, it was a good deal, however, Milan seemed to hold onto his idiotic ideas of resisting Aurelia and Raguel.

'This fool...'

"Jole! Why are you supporting her?! Is it because of your useless breeding sow daughters?" He asked with scorn lacing his every word.

His brows furrowed, he wouldn't allow this cretin to insult his daughters without reprimand.

"This is exactly why. Duke Milan, you act like a toddler throwing a fit instead of appropriately to your station."

"Huh?! I will let you know that I am to be the king. Not Ayano not any other of his children, especially not that whore of a princess!" He shouted, prompting Volt to cover his ears.

He clenched his fists.

Slam

He punched the table as hard as he could, his fists swelling slightly.

Milan lifted his head, "No matter. If you two refuse to support me in the following senate gathering, I will make sure you are both punished once Aurelia and that damned bitch Raguel are executed."

Jole's eyes widened. Was this man so delusional that he thought he could stand against Raguel?

If it were only Aurelia, he could see it, but against Raguel.

The answer was resounding. NO.

He saw it in her, a power beyond measure, as much as he fancied the woman, he also feared her deeply.

Once he and Volt arrived, Milan urged them to meet him as soon as possible.

And for what?

Just to shout and scream like a damn toddler.

He was a duke, and now he was more or less throwing a tantrum; it was almost as if Jole walked into a circus.

Even Volt was more sane than Milan was right now.

A man who was gambling with his entire estate, prestige, and authority was more grounded than Milan.

'Is this what Lady Raguel said when she spoke of those blinded by sin...'

However, he did not feel bad for the man. Nobody who insults his darling girls would be allowed to live; if he had to carve out this man's heart personally, he would do it before presenting it to Raguel.

Of course, it was hypothetical; he wouldn't gift a woman he fancied the heart of an enemy, but it was a thought that counted.

No matter what, he wouldn't stoop to Milan's level and throw a tantrum, no matter how much the man insulted his honor by attacking his daughters.

Volt was next to speak, "Milan, I agree with you; however, you must have felt the depths of power that woman wielded?"

He glared at Volt, his stare piercing the old man, "So what?! If we take control of the first legion, we could easily deal with her."

Jole had to hold his breath. Raguel had taught him just how pathetic Valar was compared to the force Aurelia controlled now.

And not to speak of the so-called 'Father', just the way she spoke filled him with dread.

Such fervor and reverence, almost as if she had been talking about god.

Anyone Milan was able to convince not to support Aurelia was as good as dead, and yet Raguel requested... no, ordered that he not interfere.

She wished to root out any resistance that could possibly be organized against Aurelia.

He had to admit, Raguel was scary.

'Terrifying and hot...' He shook his head as he tuned out Milan shouting at Volt.

"No matter, I am going to meet with other houses. You two are useless. I hope you see reason once we gather." He grumbled as he stormed out the door, leaving Volt and Jole alone.

"He isn't behaving like himself, Jole..." Volt spoke with concern.

With a sigh, he continued, "He never acted like this... I know you see the reason. That woman is not someone to take lightly."

"Not at all... Perhaps that is precisely why he had snapped like this."

Volt looked over Jole before nodding slightly, "See you at the meeting, I will go meet Aurelia soon."

With a slam, Jole was left alone, finally letting him exhale in relief.

He approached the seat before slumping down. he would not be able to stay here for long as it was Milan's manor and he did not need to.

He wished to go meet Aurelia before the senate gathered.

Volt had travelled all the way back to Valar, which was at least 2 days since he departed, and yet he would most likely go to Aurelia first.

'I do hope I am not making a mistake by siding with her...' He shook his head before pushing himself up.

"If it gets my adorable a better life, I don't care. I will die happy." He spoke to nobody, trying to reassure himself.

It would be a week more before the senate would officially begin, and until then, he had the opportunity to meet all other nobles he hadn't seen in ages, and their new queen.

The queen, who did not care for protocols, considering Raguel's actions.

He couldn't help but respect such power moves despite them destroying the order.

And yet that same order trapped his girls into lower positions despite their noble birth.

Such a system was worth destroying.

'May New Queen be eternal!'
