Chapter 22 - C22: Anti-climatic death

The group of Orochi, Izuku and Tomiya was now playing pokers. With the situation defused and no enemies on the train, they decided to play a quick match to ease the nerve. Everyone aside from them had any memory related to the incident but that would be for the better. Kana was sleeping in her seat and the three of them were two seats away.

" I lost."

Izuku quickly surrendered. He was roped into the game but he only had theory instilled in his mind and not the experience. He was confident that he would lose regardless against the sly foxes before him. But nevertheless, the game did improve the mood and their connection.

While letting the two people staring at each other's poker faces, Izuku made his way to the front of the train. The driver belonged to the Orochi's and therefore allowed his presence in the driver car with some reluctance. Maybe he felt pressure from being watched.

As Izuku was watching the scenery in front of the train rushing by, he barely saw someone standing on the tracks. This location had only been three quarter the way to the next station. As the train inched closer and closer, Izuku could finally make out clearly who was in front of the steel monster.

Seeing his stance and the quirk manifestation surround the weapon he held, Izuku quickly used the radio to warn others to keep their body to a side of the train. A downward slash, Izuku predicted, combined with the confidence screamed power. Izuku also dragged the driver aside and just a few moment later, contact was made.

The train's momentum keep the parts moving forward but the structural integrity had failed. The train split in half vertically following the sword swing. Losing the engine and combining with the downward momentum, the end of the driver car lifted up as the front went down. The motion spread through the steel medium and derailed the entire thing. The turn was right up ahead so the train further rolled away from the tracks.

As Izuku went flying in the air, he met the man with his eyes. The opponent was eager, smiling and all other expression of joy, and stared back at Izuku. They stared at one another for a fraction of a second before Izuku's head hit the roof.

The rolling of the steel machinery shook the earth and soon left a huge hole in the pristine white. In the process, the centrifugal force pushed out some of the content inside including both people and items. Splattering onto the ground, they remained lifeless and still, awaiting for the coming end.

"Dodge to one side!"

Hearing Mastermind's scream pushed Tomiya and Orochi to one side of their car together with the still sleeping Kana. No sooner had they done that did the train tumbled its way off the tracks. Orochi covered the two smaller people by embracing them in a bear hug. Glass pieces flew out due to the impact and implanted themselves into her back and arms. The blunt trauma due to collision with walls and roof was still in the limit of Orochi and she did not dare to release her hold.

After around a minute or less, they finally stopped. Aside from small bruises from the impacts, no one suffered from broken bones, sprained joints or anything of the sort. Getting up to get the situation, Tomiya and Orochi was horrified to see the entire train slice in half and corpses littered everywhere. Screams could still be heard and cries for help echoing around the deformed cars.

Tomiya gave a straight kick through the window, making a way out upward. Orochi carried Kana on her shoulder and followed Tomiya to get out. The train was lying tens of meters of the destined rails and someone was walking toward the wreckage. From the calmness of the steps, the man seemed to be the culprit.

"Orochi, keep ojou-sama hidden. Let me do the talking."

Tomiya quickly jumped off the car and began approaching the man.

"Hoh, you still alive?"

"Yes. And may I ask who are you?"

The man seemed to be the type to brag about his presence as he answered.

"Me? Lei Heng."

"Lei-san, I would like to ask why did you split the train?"

"Nothing special kiddo. Just feel like doing it. And your master, the girl, I mean, is actually the target. I won't kill her. Just bring her out here... or else this train will need few more slashes to bring her out."

"Please keep your distance and drop your weapon out of hand length. I will get her."

Annoying someone who could do such deed was not a good idea in any shape or form so temporary compliance would be for the best. Lei Heng, surprisingly, did follow the request.

'Of course he is. He is confident he can kill us all with his fists only. The man's quirk remains a mystery and it is not clear whether or not it activates only with weapons or just a universal enhancements. His confidence is not unfounded.'

Tomiya thought. Orochi heard the conversation and after a few moments of arguing with Tomiya, she finally relented and followed along.

"Hey old man, this is your target."

Pushing Kana toward in a hold like that of Simba, Orochi observed the man's every actions through gaps and readied to cover for Kana.

Extinguishing the cigarette in his mouth, Lie Heng stood there, observing the girl's feature. After a few stressful minutes for both sides, he 'teleported' beside Kana, punched Orochi in the face and knocked out two of her teeth, before gracefully capture Kana. Izuku and Tomiya, not fast enough to counter Lie Heng, now were facing him. One was bearing swords and ready to rush in, another was holding flowers, flowers made from flame yet remained stable, in his hands and ready to throw hand.

"Relax, I will not kill this young lady. Hey you, the one with flames. Tell your master to come here. I have a feeling we will get along really really well."

"...Younger brother, you do not need to go to such length. For I am already here."

"Still fleet-footed as usual heh... big brother."

Only now did Orochi, Izuku and Tomiya noticed someone else standing on the snow just meters from them. He was tall, around the height of Orochi and had long black hair tied up with an intricate gold hair ornament. A large scar ran along his right cheek. His clothing was an intricate black hanfu with red ornaments as a trim and a red striped pattern down the front left section. He wears a long coat as his uppermost layer, draping to the ground, overtop which is a red scarf with a snakeskin pattern. Beneath his robes, he wears a matching pair of pants and dark boots, which feature thick red laces fastened into a ribbon. In his hand was a long staff with various yellow talismans attached to the surface in a snake like pattern.

"Master... It's my fault for letting thing escalates to this situation. Please punish me as you wish."

"It's not your fault, Tomiya. All the training you have gone through will not prepare yourself for someone like him. Let me handle this troublesome ... brother of mine."

"It has been years isn't it, big brother? Since the day you got away from us. I hold no resentment toward you and so do the elders. They have ... admit to their mistake that day."

"Did they finally open their selfish eyes to witness the consequences of their inaction? And they send you here ... to negotiate?"

"No, no, no brother. I was hired to assassinate the Orochi's heiress but after scrutinizing her features... I will return saying that the mission failed."

"And what do you want in exchange?"

Seeing that he had piqued the interest of his brother, Lei Heng continued talking with a Chinese accent. His eyes were undoubtedly happy seeing that everything could return to the way they had always been: together as leaders with his big brother.

"I just want you to come and visit the clan."

"Phuu..."

Not giving Lei Heng any chance to speak, the head of the Orochi family swung his weapon and placed it onto his brother's shoulder.

"Brother..."

"Who are you ... to dare say such things after aiming for my daughter?!"

Around the staff, five circles of light manifested and rotated at high speed. Despite the cruel power behind them, the rings remained pure, beautiful and radiating. Sensing the wrath beneath the beauty, Lei Heng only gave it a glance before continued talking.

"It's my fault for attacking the train -"

"SILENCE!"

The pure killing intent was enough to instill fear in anyone presence including Izuku. He had seen powerful figures but had not been this close to one with malevolent intention. His entire body was frozen due to fear as a response to the pressure it was facing.

"... I'm sor-"

"You just need to endure a strike."

"... Shit, you are serious."

Lei Heng can only look forward at brother and said his final world as he felt the staff gently moved toward his head. The slight impact exploded into a resounding bang and the head was pulverized by the pressure and turn into blood mist. The light circles remained pure, uncaring for the bloody air. They disappeared just as quickly as they had appeared.

Bringing the staff closer and beginning to clean it, the head of the Orochi clan remained silent for a few minutes, contemplating something before turning to Tomiya.

" What do you want to ask?"

" Please bear with this servant but why are you here, master? I thought ... you had unfinished businesses in the Philippines."

" It just finished earlier than expected. All thanks to the help of your employer, Mastermind. You can come out now."

Being the target of the conversation, Izuku could only laugh bitterly. He walked out from his hiding spot just behind where the corpse of Lei Heng was lying. By using his power, he had positioned himself in a perfect spot for saving Kana while killing Lei Heng in a breath.

" You do not need to worry. This incident will not be counted as you were prepared to lop Heng's head off to save my daughter. The gesture is much appreciated. Truly dedicated to the mission."

" Thank huh you?"

" This tour must end now. Let's us make our way back to home."

All this time Orochi clan master never took the initiative to converse with Orochi and vice versa.

"How may I refer to you, Orochi clan head?"

"Just use my old surname, Jia. You are welcome at your place, Mastermind. And ... Orochi. This mission is not a fluke. I will hold onto the agreement between us. Catch."

Jia threw a golden key toward Orochi. She took it with her remaining hand and pushed it down her pocket. It appeared she needed a long time to regenerate and to deal with her business.

The group of them walked back to the station. On the way out of the place, a hero hired by the train company stopped them and informed them of the protocol they had to go through. But all problems were solved with a phone call from Jia.

They finally got onto a black car parking just outside the station and began the journey to the mansion.
