Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Jade Family’s Trap

The market had barely returned to normal after Luo's and Mei Lin's display of power when a message reached the Jade Family estate.

> Two children with legendary talents—one Elemental Sovereign, one Wind Sovereign—moving freely in the Imperial Capital. Potential threat to our influence.

Henry Jade clenched his fists. He had underestimated the Lin girl. And now the Chaos heir was involved.

> "We cannot allow them to grow unchecked," he hissed. "Prepare a test… and make it public."

---

The Invitation

Two days later, the Imperial Castle sent a formal invitation to the Lin Family.

> "By order of His Majesty, all noble children are requested to attend a tournament of skill and magic at the castle grounds. Your participation is expected."

Mei Lin looked at the letter with curiosity. "A tournament? Do you think it's a friendly event?"

Feng Lin frowned. "The Jade Family is notorious for using such events to assert power. Be careful, Mei Lin."

Mei Lin nodded, determined. She glanced at Luo, who had arrived at the Lin residence to meet her before the tournament.

---

Reunion of Two Legends

Luo smiled faintly. "I was invited too. Seems like fate wants us in the same place."

Mei Lin laughed softly. "Good… then we can face whatever they throw at us together."

The two children, both fourteen, walked side by side toward the Imperial Castle training grounds, their auras already intertwining, wind and elemental energy dancing invisibly around them.

---

The Tournament Begins

The castle courtyard was filled with spectators—nobles, merchants, and elite guards. The Jade Family had arrived in full force, their presence dominating the space.

Henry Jade appeared first, flanked by his personal guards. He gave Mei Lin a cold glance. "Lin girl. I hope you're ready to embarrass yourself in front of everyone."

Mei Lin's eyes narrowed. "I'll show you the truth of your arrogance."

Luo's wind aura flared subtly, brushing against Henry without a sound. "We'll face it together," he said quietly to Mei Lin.

---

First Round: Elemental and Wind Clash

The first match was a duel demonstration against minor noble children. Nothing unusual—until the Jade Family revealed hidden traps in the arena: magical sigils and elemental suppression zones designed to restrict talent use.

Mei Lin gritted her teeth. "They're trying to control our powers…"

Luo nodded, eyes glowing silver. "Then we won't fight in their way."

Luna leapt forward, sensing the danger, as Mei Lin raised her hands. Elements swirled around her, merging with Luo's wind currents. Together, the two formed a dynamic shield and counter-force that neutralized the traps.

The spectators gasped. Their attacks bounced off invisible barriers, leaving the Jade Family's designs exposed.

---

Recognition of Power

King Arthur, observing from the royal balcony, leaned forward. "Interesting… the Lin girl… and the Chaos heir. Both children exhibit a level of control beyond their age. And their synergy… unmatched."

The Head Priestess whispered to the Queen. "It is as I suspected. Two children of legendary talent, connected by fate. The Jade Family will regret underestimating them."

---

Henry's Fury

Henry's expression darkened. "Impossible… how are they bypassing my magic?"

He raised his hands, summoning a column of fire and binding magic aimed at separating Mei Lin and Luo.

Mei Lin's blue-and-golden aura flared, while Luo's wind surged. Together, they twisted the magic in midair, dispersing it harmlessly.

The crowd erupted into awe.

> Two legendary children. Their names will be remembered.

Henry clenched his fists, teeth grinding. This isn't over. Next time… they won't escape.

---

Unseen Danger

While the tournament continued, a shadowy figure watched from a rooftop.

"Two legendary talents, united already…"

A soft smirk.

"They will become the perfect tools… or the perfect threat."

Far away, in the Demon Continent, a single red eye opened.

> So… the human continent's power is awakening. It begins with them.
