Chapter 154 - This Is Really Messed Up

In the villa, Fyren had originally intended to talk to Cora about himself and her.

But now, he was no longer in the mood.

Fyren sat in the living room, lost in thought.

After a long while, he suddenly slapped his thigh:

"Aren't these people the ones who are sick?!"

Sherry nodded: "I'm even more foolish than you."

Cora pulled Sherry onto the sofa next to her: "Sherry, how old are you this year?"

"Oh, I'm… nineteen."

"Oh dear, so young? You're such a beautiful girl. I like you, little sister."

"Thank you, sis."

Cora took off a ring from her finger and held it out to Sherry: "Sherry, this is the first time I've met you. I don't have anything special to give you, but please take this ring. It's a token of my affection as your sister."

"Ah? How could I accept this?"

Fyren said: "Take it. Your sister Cora isn't this generous with everyone."

"Thank you, sis."

Sherry looked delightedly at the ruby ring: "Sis, this ring must be very valuable, right?"

"It's not about the money. No amount of money can compare to the bond between sisters."

Sherry was on the verge of tears, her eyes reddening: "Sis, you're so good to me."

Fyren was making coffee nearby: "Haven't I been good to you?"

Sherry frowned and pouted: "You're the worst! You're always tricking me!"

"Right."

Fyren poured coffee for Cora and also for himself, then handed Sherry a bottle of mineral water.

"This ring has been with your sister Cora for over ten years. Back then, it was worth seven million dollars."

"Ah? That expensive?!"

Sherry was about to put the ring down.

Cora stopped her and smiled gently: "Sweetie, don't listen to him. It has appreciated since then. But anyway, the value isn't important. What matters is the sentiment between us sisters."

Sherry shed tears: "Sis, you've been so kind to me."

"Alright, alright. Go back to sleep. Fyren and I have important matters to discuss," Fyren urged.

"No! You're a big pervert! I'm sure you're up to no good!"

Sherry grabbed Cora's hand: "Sis, you have to be careful with this guy. He's really terrible. Yesterday he was here with his secretary… I'm almost too embarrassed to say. All the female employees at his company are scared of him because he forces them to wear stockings and short skirts. Anyone who refuses gets fired. He's really awful. But don't worry, I'll protect you!"

Cora glanced at Fyren.

Fyren pretended to look elsewhere and said, "Sherry, whose side are you on? Who do you work for? Go to bed!"

"Hmph! If I find out you're bullying Cora, I'll kill you!"

With that, she stormed off angrily.

"Ah? That damn girl!"

Cora smiled gently. But the moment Sherry went upstairs and disappeared from sight, her expression instantly turned cold. Her gaze toward the staircase held a trace of venom.

Her tone also became severe: "Fyren, this…"

Fyren immediately raised a finger to her lips and typed on his phone:

She's an expert. She can hear us.

Cora grew even more worried and typed: This person can't be kept. We need to find a way to get rid of her.

Fyren was surprised: You don't like her? You just accepted her as your sister.

Cora: She wants to kill you. Anyone who means you harm, I will eliminate.

Fyren rolled his eyes: She's harmless. She doesn't even know what she's doing.

Cora: You trust her, but I don't. I won't take the slightest risk with your safety. She has to go!

Fyren sighed: She's not a bad person. And though she talks tough, she's been good to me and won't hurt me. Relax.

Cora got angry: Do you like her?

Fyren smiled: I like you.

Cora smiled proudly.

She moved closer, leaning naturally into Fyren's arms, seeking affection.

"Fyren, let's not fight anymore, okay?"

Fyren said: "I don't want to fight, but… I really was here with Chloe yesterday. Aren't you mad?"

"I am!"

Cora lay in Fyren's arms, one hand stroking his cheek: "Chloe is quite sensible. You should keep her. I won't get jealous."

"So generous?"

Cora rolled over and lay on top of Fyren: "But you mustn't love her more than me!"

"How can I guarantee that? These things are beyond my control. It's like how much dopamine your body secretes…"

Cora slapped Fyren's chest in frustration, then climbed up closer, their noses almost touching.

"Remember, stupid, next time I ask you something like that, lie to me."

"Huh? Lie… to you?"

"Yes." Cora cupped Fyren's face with both hands, speaking seriously: "When I act spoiled, you should comfort me. When I ask, you should lie and say you love me, that you love me the most, more than anyone else. Understand?"

Fyren nodded: "I… okay."

"If I keep being unreasonable, hit me."

"What?"

"Did you hear me? I can be mean and bossy—one hit will snap me out of it."

Fyren moved her aside: "No, you're kind of scaring me."

Cora blushed and giggled: "What's wrong?"

"The main thing is, our relationship might not work out."

"Why wouldn't it?"

"Your father doesn't approve of my family. He thinks your family is noble and mine is just new money. Plus, you know my reputation. He despises my behavior even more."

Cora couldn't help but laugh, then said thoughtfully: "Well, that is a tricky problem. Honestly, your father can be really annoying."

"Well, not exactly. Last time I handed him the guarantee contract—goodness, I was so angry I made him sign it right on the table!"

Cora said: "If you're mad at him, I have an idea."

"What idea?"

Cora climbed on top of Fyren again: "If he looks down on you, then you should really mess with his daughter. Wouldn't that be revenge?"

"I've noticed… you're not the same as you were three years ago."

"Shut up! Did you think I'm still that little girl you could trick into taking her clothes off in a corner?" Cora whispered into Fyren's ear: "Now you don't have to deceive me anymore."

Cora's movements grew bolder. Suddenly, Fyren jolted awake.

"Wait, wait, wait. Let's calm down for a second!"

"Why? Don't you like how I am now? If I don't take the initiative, how am I supposed to compete with Eliza later?"

"You're competing with her?!"

"She likes you! And you like her too! Don't play dumb!"

"That's not true!"

"Everyone in Crystalpeak City knows about it. What's the point of lying?"

"No!"

Fyren was on the verge of tears: "I don't know how to explain it. But you need to behave. Let's just… take things slow, get to know each other better, and then… then…"

"Then what? Wait till you marry Eliza so I can be your second wife?"

"No, you're talking nonsense. There's nothing between me and her."

"Nothing? You yelled at Xena in the office and said you'd protect Eliza for the rest of your life. You think I don't know?"

"Dammit." Fyren was utterly frustrated: "I really need to muzzle the gossips in the company."

"Anyway, I don't care. You can have as many women as you want. I won't interfere. But I'm your childhood sweetheart! I was your first!"

Fyren was wrestling with himself inside.

He picked Cora up and set her down beside him: "Cora, I think we're… moving a bit too fast. It's making me nervous. Let's just cool off, okay?"

"You brought me here, wasn't it to… conquer me? Come on! Haha!"

Cora lay back on the sofa, striking a seductive pose, teasing Fyren with her foot: "Today, big sister is going to be the one taming you."

Fyren gently moved her foot aside: "Hold on. My head's a mess."

"Cora, what kind of situation do you think I'm in? You saw everything today. It's dangerous. There are always villains trying to hurt me. This isn't a game. If you stay with me, you'll be in danger too…"

"I already said I'm not afraid of danger. Besides, I think you're really lucky and really smart. The smartest in the world. You'll definitely handle those small fries."

Fyren sighed: "If only they were just small fries."

Fyren wasn't here just to fool around. Even though he lived a seemingly carefree life—

Living in a huge villa, driving all kinds of luxury cars, running a hundred-billion-dollar conglomerate, enjoying fine food, drinking well, having gorgeous secretaries…

But did you think he was really as happy as everyone imagined?

No!

In fact, he had always been tense inside.

Apart from those happy moments, he spent at least ten minutes out of every twenty-four hours in deep melancholy. Who knew about this pain? Who could understand?

Otto, the real male lead, was like a sharp sword hanging over his head. Otto's story wasn't over, and his own troubles were far from resolved.

And… could he really go back? How? What would his world look like after…?

He had no idea about any of it.

Just surviving here alone was already risky enough.

Cora climbed onto Fyren again: "Fyren, don't frown! What's wrong—do you only get one bullet a day?"

Fyren glared: "Who said that?! My ammo's more than enough! I could fire ten rounds!"

"Really? Then why are you always avoiding me? Come on, shoot all your bullets at me! Shoot me dead!"

Fyren's anger flared up.

"If you don't handle this vixen properly today, you'll never realize just how many tricks your man has got!"

Cora giggled.

Fyren picked her up and strode toward the elevator.

After stepping out, Cora landed and kissed Fyren passionately.

Clothes flew across the floor as they kissed and undressed—coats, shoes, her dress, underwear… everything scattered along the way.

[Forget it! Even if I get struck by lightning today, I still want Cora!]

[Who cares about world peace! The only war that matters is between me and her! If I don't put her in her place today, she'll think I have no backbone!]

Fyren was human too—a perfectly normal one.

Most men would've surrendered long ago to a beauty like Cora.

She was already in the right mood: "Fyren, hit me, scold me… It was all my fault before. Today, I'll make it up to you completely…"

Fyren growled: "You little minx!"

But just then, the system notification chimed:

Ding dong!

"Congratulations, Host! You have successfully conquered Cora. Otto's power has now doubled!"

Fyren froze mid-action, lifted his head, and burst out:

"You son of a bitch! You idiot!?"

Cora gave him a gentle pat on the shoulder and murmured, "That's not what I meant!"
