Viona's room was located on the first floor, separated from the master bedroom and Lucas's office, which were both on the second floor. That placement had been intentionally chosen from the beginning, so Viona could be more easily monitored, especially at night when she woke up hungry or ran out of milk usually stocked in her room. Lucas and Haisley had even decided to move their master bedroom to the same floor, the first floor, to make it easier to care for Viona without having to go up and down the stairs in the middle of the night.
With calm steps, Lucas opened the door to Viona's room. He approached the crib in the corner and gently laid Viona down with utmost care. His large hand pulled the soft blanket over her tiny body with slow, cautious movements, as if afraid to disturb the peace that had finally returned after her long crying.
