Chapter 428 - 428: The Vanishing Cabinet

Just as he raised his head to look at the enormous alchemical module floating in mid-air at the very centre of the chamber, a corner behind Kasenhis slowly began to shimmer with rippling light effects.

Two Death Eaters sneakily emerged from the double concealment of an Invisibility Cloak and Disillusionment Charms.

They looked at Kasenhis, who was studying the alchemical module not far away, and exchanged a glance.

After confirming with their eyes, one of them frantically waved his wand, layering dense Shield Charms until his protective magic solidified almost like a physical object.

The other began charging up an Avada Kedavra from the moment their eyes met.

No matter what, the two of them were still high-ranking talents with recognisable names among the Death Eaters. Naturally, they knew how terrifying Kasenhis was. Even their master had suffered a great loss at his hands, so no amount of caution from the two of them would be excessive.

And just as the two of them, one in front and one behind, advanced in coordinated steps and were about to sneak up behind Kasenhis' head, the latter abruptly turned around and swung a slap at the Death Eater acting as the shield.

Spulch!

In an instant, the Shield Charm that had condensed like solid matter was like paper. As for that Death Eater's head, it was directly smashed by the force into a beef ball.

The Death Eater behind him, who had been charging the Killing Curse, was stunned by the sight and immediately released the Killing Curse without hesitation.

With a terrifying sound of tearing air, the Killing Curse missed perfectly.

And that Death Eater's heart had already been pierced through by Kasenhis' mechanical arm.

"These two idiots. The Vanishing Cabinet was sitting right there in the corner. Did they think I was blind?"

Kasenhis speechlessly wiped the blood from his hand with a handkerchief and said helplessly. After cleaning himself up, he turned his head and looked once more at the enormous alchemical module.

It had to be said that the wisdom of Hogwarts' four founders could truly be called endless. The alchemical module was not just some ordinary stone tablet engraved with alchemical runes or the like.

Instead, it was a very standard dodecahedral Rubik's cube. Each small block had a specific alchemical rune, and each face represented an entirely different defensive spell aimed at Hogwarts. The only difference lay in how the alchemical runes on that face were arranged and combined.

"Ancient alchemical spell arrangements... Good thing I'm the one who came. If it were Dumbledore, what the hell would he know about alchemy?"

Kasenhis muttered as he began studying the entire alchemical module. Of course, he understood how to repair it properly, but it definitely would not be quick.

So compared to repairing it, the urgent priority was to stop it, to make the alchemical module stop continuing to affect Hogwarts.

Thinking this, Kasenhis flew directly above the module. One of the modules facing upward was continuously releasing magical power, transmitting it straight to the Great Hall. The Great Hall ceiling then absorbed it and finally supplied it to the entire Hogwarts Castle.

The solution was also simple.

Either destroy the Great Hall, making it unable to gather the magic of the alchemical module. That way, the effect of the entire alchemical module would be greatly reduced. At most, the atmosphere inside Hogwarts would become a little more heated than usual, which was fine, since it had never been particularly peaceful anyway.

Or destroy the ceiling of the Great Hall. That way, this strange magic would only gather inside the Great Hall, at most affecting nearby areas close to the Great Hall, and would not spread throughout the entire castle.

Of course, the flaw was also extremely obvious.

For example, the influence of this magic would become especially heavy. Heavy enough that the moment people walked into the Great Hall, they would either beat each other's brains out or directly reward themselves with an Avada Kedavra.

Clearly, neither solution was particularly good.

And as the Hogwarts Alchemy professor who understood alchemy best, he naturally had an even more ridiculously awesome solution.

He slowly took out a name tag and slapped it onto the alchemical module.

As that strange light on the alchemical module slowly faded, the entirety of Hogwarts instantly returned to normal. The first to notice were Dumbledore and the others, who had been closely watching from the Headmaster's office.

"He succeeded... No, wait, not yet. He didn't resolve the contamination. He directly stopped Hogwarts' protective magic."

Dumbledore's mood could be described as rising and falling dramatically.

His entire person was utterly bewildered.

"But at least no one in Hogwarts will be free-fall attacking the lawn anymore, right?" Hermione said.

"That is true, as long as you don't decide you can't go on."

Dumbledore looked at Hermione and teased her.

"Oh, I will."

Of course, there were others too. For example, the professors who had been fighting fiercely in the corridors of Hogwarts before being mercilessly wrapped up in cobwebs by Kasenhis. Looking at the colleagues they had been brawling with just a few minutes earlier, all that remained now was awkwardness.

"When are we getting out?"

"No idea. Once one of them completely solves today's mess, Kasenhis should come and rescue us."

...

All of this had little to do with Kasenhis, because he had already landed and undone his previous Creative Mode modification to Hogwarts' materials.

Hogwarts changed back from transparent glass into stone, and Kasenhis could finally calm down and focus entirely on studying the cube before him.

Oh, it was not entirely a cube.

It was a combination of a Rubik's cube and a nine-square grid.

As for how to solve this thing...

Who knew?

He had grown this old and had never played with that kind of intelligence-building little toy.

"Once today is over, I must make Dumbledore give me a full week off... No, wait, what do you mean, week off? That was supposed to be my free time in the first place!"

...

Four hours later, after completing the final step, Kasenhis once again took out a name tag and slapped it onto the alchemical module.

In an instant, the alchemical module once again emitted a dazzling, healthy white light, supplying it upward to the Great Hall, then to the ceiling of the Great Hall, and finally spreading it throughout all of Hogwarts.

After everything had settled, Kasenhis first returned to the castle aboveground and used chain-breaking to destroy all the cobwebs. Then, after repairing the foundation he had damaged earlier with the vertical mining method, he returned once more to the enormous underground chamber.

"I'd like to see what damn place this bloody Vanishing Cabinet is connected to. Voldemort, your Grandpa Kasenhis is coming to find you!"

Kasenhis grinned viciously and pulled open the Vanishing Cabinet.

He absolutely had to meet the culprit who had made him work overtime for an entire night!
