Chapter 423 - 423: Reflection in Tears

Watching Clay slowly leave the office, Kasenhis' gaze became a little strange.

"Why does this feel so odd? Did I get tricked? Wait, why do I suddenly have another personal student?"

"Forget it... It's not like I'll lose a piece of flesh."

He stood up and stretched hard. Just as he had muttered to himself, it wasn't as though he would lose a piece of flesh. If he had one more student, then he had one more student. What problem could there be?

Then, all of a sudden, he felt his consciousness blur for an instant. When he opened his eyes again, he was already sitting on the floor.

"Bloody hell? Have I been drinking too much these past few days?"

Kasenhis stood up in confusion, sat back down in his office chair, and took out the little mirror a student had once given him. He carefully examined himself in the mirror and found that, for some reason, his eyes were filled with blood vessels.

"Wine and lust... have wounded me this deeply!"

Kasenhis trembled as he stared into the mirror. Very soon, he made up his mind and crushed the mirror in his hand.

"From today onwards! I shall abstain from lust!"

Then, Professor Kasenhis, who had been single since birth, had never even held a girl's hand, and had no idea what kind of lust he was supposed to be abstaining from, returned to his usual salted-fish state.

He carefully placed the mirror he had accidentally crushed on the desk, then repaired it with alchemy.

After all, it had been a gift from one of his students.

He should preserve it properly as a keepsake.

...

That evening, Kasenhis watched as Clay, sitting at the Ravenclaw table, hurriedly replenished his nutrition like a car refuelling or a phone charging. After that, Clay threw him a flirtatious look and kept twirling two fingers in the air.

His meaning was very clear.

He would go to Kasenhis' office and wait there first.

Wait...

A flirtatious look?

No, no, surely not.

After relaxing, Kasenhis gradually focused on his own eating as well.

After Kasenhis left, "What is he... up to?" Snape said in confusion as he watched Kasenhis' hurried back.

"Who knows? Perhaps he's secretly roasting a whole lamb in his office and eating it alone," Dumbledore said in a tone that clearly indicated he was joking.

"Roast whole lamb?"

Hagrid suddenly straightened up.

"Eat your food. Dumbledore was joking," Snape said helplessly.

"Oh, right."

Hagrid awkwardly lowered his head and continued eating.

Meanwhile, Kasenhis returned to his office, where Clay was sitting on the sofa, leisurely drinking tea. That full-on air of dignity made him look for all the world like the true master of the office, while Kasenhis was the student who had come to seek instruction.

"Have you been waiting anxiously?"

Kasenhis ignored the question of who looked more like the owner of the office. He took off his coat, hung it on the rack, poured himself a cup of tea, and rinsed his mouth with it.

"Not anxious. Not anxious at all," Clay shook his head.

"Have you studied the little wooden axe I gave you? Don't tell me that after all this time, all you've studied are the three English letters A, X, and E," Kasenhis said after finishing his tea.

"Not quite. In fact, I only studied A and X, because the E is silent," Clay shook his head and explained.

"So?" Kasenhis raised an eyebrow.

"Other than that, I also discovered a few interesting uses for this little axe."

Seeing that the teasing portion of his interaction with Professor Kasenhis was more or less over, Clay finally took out the axe and began demonstrating the functions he had discovered.

He raised the axe and gently tapped one corner of the tea table with its blade. The next moment, a green geometric frame stuck to the axe. Clay pulled the frame this way and that like stretched taffy, and finally stopped the axe at a small corner before swinging it down.

Just like that, the tea table gained an extra border identical in material to the table itself.

Kasenhis slowly slipped his hand into his pocket and wiped the sweat from his palm against the fabric.

But his mouth remained stubborn.

"That's it?"

Clay unconsciously pouted, then lightly tapped the ground beneath his feet with the axe. A grass block appeared under him.

"Very good... and then?" Kasenhis continued asking.

Clay shook his head.

"That's all."

Kasenhis took out a little wooden axe.

"You can absolutely combine the two methods."

As he spoke, he used the little wooden axe to create a grass block, then suddenly stretched it longer, wider, and taller. A small floating island appeared in his hand.

"I tried that too, but I don't know how to use the axe to copy the material of that kind of block. I can only use the axe to copy the material of ordinary things," Clay said.

"How should I explain this? Don't think of it as copying the block. You can understand it as a single block. It's just larger and has a stranger shape."

Kasenhis patted the huge floating island in front of him.

"But in the end, it's still a block."

After saying that, he reached out and tapped it, and the entire floating island was instantly destroyed.

"Alright, I'll go back and try it," Clay nodded.

"Why go back and try? Why not try it here directly?" Kasenhis asked in surprise.

"Because I don't think Professor Kasenhis would teach me for nothing without needing anything in return. I should probably help you with some work," Clay said.

Kasenhis slumped weakly back in his chair and sighed.

How could the gap between people be so huge?

Why had he only found such an incredibly excellent disciple as Clay today?

Why couldn't those troublesome students he had met before learn from their junior?

At this moment, Kasenhis was like a scumbag. The best one was always the one in front of him. The ones from the past had already become troublesome students, while Clay, who was sitting opposite him now, had become a sweet, wonderful disciple.

And this wonderful disciple actually thought that Kasenhis had accepted him as a student in order to make him do hard labour?

How could he think that of him?

It truly wounded his teacher's heart.

As Kasenhis thought and thought, crystalline tears slowly flowed from the corners of his eyes.

And reflected within those tears was...
