"Hahaha, you one sick son of a bastard. I finally found out why you are still alive. " Akira laughed like a maniac as he jumped away.
Seeing Akira at a safe distance, Gildarts also distanced himself. It's very hard holding down a huge python.
" Hey kid, you better explain what the hell happened. That crazy stunt of yours might have cost both of us, " Gildarts scolded as he kept his eyes on Tokinada, who managed to get out of the entanglement.
Akira grinned as he said, "Well, sorry about that. I really had no choice. I need to touch him to run a full analysis on him. "
" So did you find a way to stop this bastard? " Gildarts asked. Earlier, when he was holding that python down, he felt there was something wrong.
The danger he felt earlier at the door didn't match up with the threat he was getting with Tokinada. Although this guy is very huge, his threat level is only at a level of an A-rank monster.
Something was very wrong as Gildarts didn't doubt his senses. So it is either there is someone else hiding or this guy is acting like a seal for something more terrifying.
" Yes, but first we need to destroy this whole place. That guy's real body is not the snake but this room itself. As long as this place is standing, that guy would be unbeatable. " Akira said as he watched Tokinada healing his wounds at an alarming rate.
That guy also seemed to have literally ripped off the chains from his flesh in order to use his magical powers again.
"Haha, if it comes to destroying things, then you asked the right person, " Gildarts said with excitement.
Akira didn't comment on how dangerous that statement is. You know they are a light guild and not a dark guild. So we are supposed to be best at protecting, not destroying.
"Well anyway, hit him hard, Gildarts, " Akira said as he cheered Gildarts. It's not every day you see a natural disaster in action.
Gildarts grinned as a white aura began to cover his body. He clenched his fists and lowered his center of gravity.
" Crushing Evil, Spreading the Truth: Absolute Heaven." Gildarts roared as he launched a punch at Tokinada.
" Dark ray!" Tokinada roared as he blasted a dark beam from his mouth in order to counter Gildart's attack.
Normally, as a high-level undead, his magic, especially dark magic, would be so powerful that even an S-rank wizard would have trouble. But unfortunately his opponent is Gildarts, who is a monster even amongst S rank wizards.
As soon as the two attacks met, there was no delay as Tokinada's attack was crushed into tiny pieces.
"What impossible NOOOOO " Tokinada screamed as he was hit with Gildart's attack. And unlike last time, where Gildarts did hold himself a little back, this time Gildarts went all out.
With a bang, Tokinada's body exploded. And with it, the whole room was also engulfed in the explosion. This time the commotion was enough to destroy all the pillars that held this place. And after they were done, the whole temple began to fall apart. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Akira ran away during the fight knowing Gildarts would only need one blow to destroy the damn place. He escaped using his light magic to create a rocket blaster and using it like how a cartoon character would do. As for Gildart, well, that guy has his whole body covered in his crush aura, so everything around him would be crushed immediately.
After the smoke subsided, Akira walked out from his cover to inspect the situation. "Hey Gildarts, are you all right?" he shouted as he looked in one direction where there was a pile of debris.
The pile of rocks began to tremble, and the next second they all began to crumble into pieces, revealing Gildarts without a single scratch. "Is that guy dead? " he asked, looking for Tokinada.
"Yes and no," Akira said as he walked forward to the last place Tokinada was alive. Gildarts just looked at him in interest wondering what this kid is about to do.
Akira just walked forward and stopped and began to move some rubble here and there to dig up what he wanted. After a few minutes of digging, he shouted. . "Ahh, got it, " he said as he picked up a celestial key that had a black snake spiraling around it.
"Hey, isn't that the...?" Seeing the key, Gildarts recognized what it was immediately. It was the reason why they came to this temple. Well, destroyed temple, but you get it.
"Yes, this is the key of the Snake Charmer Ophiuchus, " Akira said as he quickly sidestepped to avoid the attack that was aimed at him.
"Oh hi there Tokinada, I didn't think you had the ability to come out, " Akira said as he looked at his attacker with a mocking smile.
The one who attacked Akira was an old man who looked like he was a zombie. He had long white hair and wore a worn-out traditional outfit that looked like it belonged to a priest.
"UNFORGIVABLE! HOW DARE YOU TRY TO TAKE MY BELOVED Ophiuchus AWAY FROM ME " Tokinada screamed as he fired dark rays at Akira like a madman.
Akira dodged the attacks very easily. Since this guy is out in the flesh, Akira could use his unique ability once again. And this also meant that he could once again attack where it would hurt the most.
" Angels prayer," Akira shouted as he summoned a large amount of magic arrows made out of light magic. And with a wave of his hand, all the arrows flew towards Tokinada.
" darkness veil " Tokinada spat as he created a shield made out of darkness to block the attacks. After the attacks stopped, he was about to counterattack, but that's when he suddenly heard a voice that scared the shit out of his remaining life.
" All Crush." It was Gildarts who somehow got behind him. Tokinada didn't have any time to think as he was instantly crushed by Gildart's magic, ending his life.
Gildarts and Akira surveyed their surroundings carefully before both of them slumped down into the ground utterly exhausted. Although it may have looked like everything was under control, only both of them knew how stressed they were during the whole time.
"Hey, good work out there, kid, "Gildarts said as he looked at Akira. If he were to do this quest alone, then he would most likely fail, as he would end up destroying the whole place with the key included.
"Thanks, I couldn't have done it without you, Gildarts, " Akira said with a smile. He truly meant it. If it wasn't for Gildarts taking all the aggro and attacking, Akira would have died or even been seriously injured here.
After all, his strength now lies in his ability to analyze his opponents. His firepower is very much lacking despite being a walking library.
"So, mind telling me what really happened?"Gildarts asked.
Akira thought about it before saying, " Well you noticed how obsessed he was about Ophiuchus, right? "
Gildarts nodded. Even a four-year-old could see that Tokinada had an unhealthy obsession with Ophiuchus.
"Well, this bastard was so obsessed that he fused a part of his soul with Ophiuchus's celestial key. Using the part of the soul as an anchor, he was able to retain all his memories even after he became an undead. After years of evolution, he managed to evolve enough to be considered a lich.
And that's when his obsession became too much. Since celestial spirits cannot form a contract with any beings other than humans, Ophiuchus's contract with him was nulled. This enraged the man, so he trapped Ophiuchus in the human world while fusing his soul completely with her body and taking over it.
It is like he was saying that all of you belong to me. And this guy went further and created a blood array and put his own physical body as a center and sealed off the entire temple from the outside world.
All the undead we defeated were his minions that he made out of the lost wandering souls of the villagers who used to belong to the religion that he founded. " Akira said with a sigh.
" But Akira, why did you want to destroy the whole building first? " Gildarts asked. It didn't make any sense.
"Well, Gildarts, that's because of the blood array. You may not know this, but some masters can do some crazy shit with arrays. As we don't know what that guy added in those arrays, we shouldn't take any chances. " Akira said, lying a bit.
Reading Tokinada's mind, Akira knew that guy was a master at array making. Using the synthesis skill he mastered from Ophiuchus, that guy managed to create an infinite resurrection point.
As long as the temple remains, Tokinada would be able to regenerate infinitely, making him immortal in a sense.
