Chapter 43 - LOSERS DIE

Lucien feels embarrassed by what occured. The expressions Ten's brother made with his body are something he isn't comfort showing strangers.

On a greater note, Lucy is afflicted. Now, he understands why Shinji looked after Tsukino, mistaking it for romantic feelings.

'This is dangerous. I don't want to be possessed again, if possible.'

The thought of him getting possessed while he is with a certain stupid Blondie made his hair stand. Who knows what that obnoxious pervert would do?

Taking deep breaths, he calms down. Thanks to the distractions, he is no longer thinking about the vision. Also, his mind is now thinking straight.

—Could it be that among 'us' they're certain people who have a stronger link of emotions: just like Shinji-kun and the person who made him care for Tsukino; me and that pervert?

During the first day he saw Ten, Lucien thought, he was swinging that way for a second. However, thinking of the Main Character's predicament, he dropped it all on his birthmark, [קדושה—אפס]

Interlocking his fingers, he places his hands on the tree truck for his head to rest. Closing his eyes, he clears his mind.

—I hope to get a good sleep before a good hunt.

Tsukino has seen everything that occurred. Although she doesn't know that Lucien was possessed, she likes that side of Lucy... maybe, he is back to the good side.

That being said, she isn't going to give up on her previous agenda.

The gray eyed girl is determined to defeat Lucien, instead of killing him like before —even though ruthless, he is human inside.

Walking up to him, she unsheathes one of her kitanas, and points it at his Adam's apple.

"Lucy, I challenge you to a dual."

Ten wants to facepalm, but sighs at the schmuck Tsukino. Seeing that Lucien isn't going to reply, he injects:

"Drop it, you already lost to him before. They're guys on the bottom like us, who are being suppressed because we aren't too strong to fight back, who want to be like him. I don't know about your past, so I won't say you have never been bullied before, but I want you to know that once you have been bullied once, you'll see things in his light. Let him be, he is doing his own right."

"Traitor!" Tsukino hissed, "Do you think he will spare you when the time comes?"

"I never followed you, nor anyone. I just got pulled around because I'm weak."

Before Tsukino can say a thing, Ten replies her other question.

"I'll rather be killed by him than rubbish, at least I would've died because my opponent is stronger, not because I'm the weaker one."

Tsukino furrows her brows, inciting an errant smile out of Tento.

"Why are you bothering yourself with me? I'm talking to myself, and you happen to answer. I never knew you were crazy."

Tsukino's face contorts, feeling the edge to swing her sword, and cut the head of the obnoxious boy. Taking a few deep breaths, she composes herself.

"If I'm crazy, what about you?"

Ten's smile doesn't waver. Moreover, his gaze sweeps past the forest, the beautiful girl in a blue kamishimo, before resting on the canopy of the tree he is resting.

"What a lovely day."

Tsukino feels her head boil, but calms down. The young man before her is around the same age as her brother; she can't let herself try to engage into a verbal brow with him.

Fixing her gaze on Lucy, she repeats her earlier request. Meanwhile, Lucien doesn't flinch at the blade pointing at his larynx. Keeping his eyes closed, he replies:

"You win."

Ten narrows his frons, but Lucy has more to say:

"In life, there is nothing called a loss, until you die and be forgotten. While you're alive, you're a winner, even when nothing is in your favor and keep on being defeated. It's during those times, you realize how weak you're, and what you should do to get stronger and preserve your life to be a forever victor."

Although it might seem like he is talking to Tsukino, Lucy's words are directed towards Tento. Next to him, the young man nods several times: he has already figured out what was keeping him weak, and he is just a few steps away from getting stronger.

On the other hand, Tsukino clicks her tongue in jest.

"I don't need your advice."

With a languid visage, Lucy opers his left eye, as he stares at the girl.

The birthmark aside, Lucien is somewhat fond of Tsukino. In a world ruled by greed and selfish desires, she wants to remain pure, and be a heroine, who is willing to suffer for a stranger. On a retrospective look, she reminds him of his mother, but his mother was smart, if not the smartest, and Tsukino is a schmuck.

"Stop being delusional: with how big the world is, it can never be saved by one person. In the end, only those who desire to be truly saved and are not subject to greed will be saved, and attain Life."

"That's from the first Tama-Artist!" Ten jerks up, as a fanboy —and look-a-like—, he instantly recognized, "Tsukino, you should read the Journey of the First Tama-Artist, when you get the time."

Tsukino rolls her eyes, glowering at the two.

"I'm not like you."

She stores her sword and turns around.

"I'll save everyone, and let you beer testimony to it."

As she walks away, Lucien closes his eye.

"She is more like Shinji."

"Huh?"

Ten is bamboozled by his words, blinking a few times. Although they might have been a thing between them, the two are fire and ice.

"Why do you say so?"

"Both of them are stubborn, and share a relatively same dream."

"I see."

Lucien wants to continue talking, but he realizes that he has familiarized himself with Ten unwillingly. Massaging his cheek bones, he slowly moves his mouth:

"I'm going to battle some stage 3 profound beast, are you willing to join me?"

Without even thinking, Ten answers.

"Sure thing."

"However, that's not our true target, since that will determine if we will be able to defeat a stage 4 beast."

"Okay."

Lucy sighs inwardly, and turns his head to the side.

Tento's mindset is broken, not because he moved such a path, but because it was forced to. In his mind, he doesn't know how to disagree with something being asked of him. Therefore, Ten has been weak for a long time that he is easily tamed by the situation, and unless he becomes strong, it will be hard for him to be his own person.

—With how he has been training recently, he must have figured that out —but he is only harming himself that way.

Meanwhile, Ten finally realizes what Lucien asked him to do, and screams in his mind.

—You stupid pushover! You should have asked for his guidance before agreeing! Idiot! This is why you're your brother's little brother!
