Chapter 40 - ZERO HOLY

'I didn't train to fight someone like of her.'

Lucien's thoughts are brutal, yet true. Some people might view Tsukino to be strong, but she is not someone whom he sees as strong. In his mind, he recalls what Shinji requested of him.

"Lila-chan asked me to kill a stage 4 profound beast for her, but as a good friend, I won't do it, because it's best for you to kill it than me."

Now, that is something strong, which he is elated to fight. And if he dies while fighting, then that means he is just weak. He needs to be strong in order to fight what is ahead of him!

That being said, Lucien isn't going to let Tsukino go. The only way to stop her from bothering him, is by giving her a fight. However, for wasting his time, she needs to pay something in the end.

Lucy turns around, and takes his hammer from his back. Nonetheless, he drops it to the side, leaving Tsukino dazed, as her gray eyes blink numerous times.

'Is he looking down on me?'

The moment her thoughts finish, Lucien is in front of her, aiming for her gut with his fist. The young man knows better than to hit a girl in the face, and does his best to hold back, as much as possible.

Bam—!

Tsukino is sent whizzing back a few meters behind. The pain in her gut is excruciating, to the point she coughs up, when she clashs to the ground.

Picking herself up, she sneers: "Is that all you got?!"

Lucien crosses his arms, mocking her pride. Meanwhile, Tsukino grates her teeth, clenching her kitanas. Making herself appear flashy, she moves toward Lucy in a zigzag manner.

As she arrives, she thrusts her left kitana towards Lucy's chest; whereas, the other is waiting for him to dodge. Nevertheless, the distance between the two is enough for Lucien to perform a side-kick.

Bam—!

"Ahhh!"

Tsukino groaned in pain, whizzing over to crush with a tree. One can call it lucky she didn't crush to the ground. However, along the way, the girl felt a slight crack in her bones.

Shrugging off the pain, she looks at Lucy again, rushing in his direction without saying a thing. Putting all tricks aside, she prepares herself to go all out.

Whoosh! Whizz! Whoosh!

A rapid assortment of swings and thrusts move toward Lucien, whispering in the air. Although Tsukino is making them oblique to the best of her abilities, the scarlet hair dodges them with ease, fueling up her motivation.

...after 2 minutes, Tsukino runs out of breath.

Thud—!

The girl fell on her knees. She doesn't need anyone to tell her she is no match for Lucien. In addition to the two hits she gave him hurting like hell, Lucy wasn't being serious with her —mostly because he didn't use his hammer.

—Is this what all my training amounts too? Is this all I can do?

Before her thoughts can sink her into oblivion, Lucy suddenly grabs her left wrist, while he pulls her over to him. As she stands on her two legs, Tsukino finds her head stuck in between Lucien's chest; whreas her right hand touches it.

Although she is already out of breath, feeling the muscles hidden underneath Lucy's clothes is taking most of Tsukino's breath. Furthermore, she is so flustered that her thoughts seem too many for her small head:

—What is he doing?! Does he have an agenda?! Is he going...

As her head spins around like a carousel, Lucy's gaze lies on the light-blue-birthmark on her left wrist, written: קדושה—אפס

"Can you read it?"

In her thoughts, Tsukino mutters: "You smell gorgeous."

"That's because you stink."

Tsukino feels defeated again.

Her fists clench up in rage, feeling the edge to punch Lucien. That being said, she knows too well that her attacks are useless on him, and listens to his repeated question.

"I don't," She said, trying to make distance between her and the man, who carries the scent of various beautiful flowers.

"Do you want to know? They're the only words I can read."

The birthmark is the only thing his mystic eyes can't zoom. Also, thanks to his mother telling him, he knows its Kanji translation.

Tsukino nods.

"Zero Holy."

At the moment of the words, Tsukino felt a throb in her head, inciting her to miss everything.

Unperturbed, she asks: "What did you say?"

Lucien sighs inwardly. Removing his mother, no one ever gets a thing when he said out the translation if the birthmark. Also, when he tells it those with the birthmark, they seem to feel a certain pain in their heads.

Shrugging, Lucy breathes out slowly, as he excogitates his next action. After a few seconds, he is ready.

"This is going to hurt."

"Huh–? Wha–?!!"

Before Tsukino can inquire any further, Lucien channels his Entropy into her birthmark, inciting a scream out of her. Inspite of the process having chances of killing Tsukino, Lucien doesn't care, that is her price for challenging him.

As seconds pass, and as he expected, Lucy's vision shifts to a new scenery.

The sky is silver, and the plants are scarlet. However, this doesn't stun the young man, as the sight of the modern day cemetery, he is in the midst of.

Without Lucy's focus, his mystic eyes activate, prompting his vision to zoom over to the throne in a distance. Moreover, just like the sky, the throne is bizarre.

In place of the armrest are two horses with two horns each —a pink one on the right, and a gray one on the left. Despite the seat looking like it's made out of glass, it flickers like fire. As for the back, it's a small falls of mesmerizing colors.

As time passes, the wind blows, and people start to come out of the graves. Furthermore, their bodies are mutilated, showing signs that they have gone through a lot of struggles.

Time moves again, and the bodies regain back their original state. However, they seem more lively, as if they are coming from being born.

Soon, a comet falls in the middle —in front of Lucy. After the impact, a man knells in front of Lucien.

Although he is toned, handsome and grease-black haired, he has golden skin. Also, he has a red double-breasted suit, that matches his twisted eyes that seem to be like they are molded in hell.

Around the man's body are chains of fire, with long spikes. Despite them piercing his limbs, the limbs aren't bleeding.

Furthermore, the man is yelling something, Lucy can't hear. However, Lucien can tell the man is pleading for help.

Time moves again, and there, Akane stands on the throne, instead of sitting.

"My son, don't give up, the path to perfection has no end. By each mistake you make, I'll guide you as your mother, don't stress yourself with what is wrong and what is not. Although you'll suffer soon, I'm with you, as I have always have: you're my son, after all."

Lucy jots back to reality, letting go of Tsukino's hand, which has became light blue. Turning around, a tear drops from Lucien's left eye.

—After all this time, I see you in an unpleasant vision.
