William sat behind the desk in the study, lost in his own thoughts.
A knock came at that moment.
William came back to his senses and adjusted his posture. "Come in."
The study door swung open, and Mrs. Franklin assisted her husband as they entered the room. William wore a calm expression. Mr. Franklin turned to Mrs. Franklin and said, "I want to talk to William alone. Please go check on Mia."
Mrs. Franklin glanced at William, her face filled with melancholy, and nodded at her husband.
Mr. Franklin slowly sat down in a chair, his aged face full of wrinkles yet still commanding respect. He looked at William coldly and said, "Is this really the result of your discussion with Mia?"
William's expression was calm. "Yes."
"How could you agree to it?" Mr. Franklin said with a hint of anger.
William's gaze paused slightly. "I said I would respect her if she insists."
