Hi everyone, I Am Just a Ghost here.
It's been a while, hasn't it? First of all, I want to sincerely thank every one of you who has spent time reading Dragonsbane. Your support truly motivates me,not only to keep writing, but to constantly think of ways to improve both as a writer and in the story itself.
Dragonsbane is my very first novel. It started with a simple thought: "what if a guy ended up in another world together with six of his friends, without being told why" No demon lord to defeat, no great enemy, just the knowledge that they were needed for something. My goal from the beginning was to move away from the generic isekai formula and clichés, and tell something different.
Writing the first chapters was an amazing experience, and finishing the first Grand Arc (The Black Forest) felt incredible. But after that point, I began to feel lost, not because I didn't know what would happen next, but because I wasn't sure how to take the characters from point A to point B in the best way possible.
This led to something many of you noticed: the pacing felt off, and some parts seemed unnecessarily dragged out. As I kept working on the current arc (The Waiting Grounds), I realized the narrative was heading in a direction I didn't enjoy. I kept pushing forward, feeling like I couldn't stop posting chapters, but eventually I burned out. Writing stopped being fun, and that was eating me up inside.
That's why I made the decision to rewrite the current arc. This arc is important, it sets the stage for the true climax of Volume 1. It's meant to be the real introductory arc: a moment of rest where the protagonist reflects on who he was and who he has become, learns about the world's society and power system, and begins to adapt. But I lost sight of that vision, and I want to bring it back.
So here's the news: Dragonsbane is going on hiatus. I know it already feels like it has been, and for that I apologize. But now I'm officially stepping back to rewrite The Waiting Grounds.
Over the past month, I've been re-reading and carefully planning the best way to reshape the arc, which is also why I haven't released any new chapters recently. Returning to the origins, where I truly loved writing this story, felt like the best decision. That said, the full objective behind this arc may also change as I rewrite it completely. So once again, I apologize, and I thank you for your patience as I work to give you the best version possible.
I don't have an exact release date yet, but based on my current progress, I expect it will take anywhere from one to two months before I can start releasing the revised chapters. When that time comes, I'll try publishing the first ones in a mass release format as an apology for the wait.
My goal with this rewrite is simple: to give you the best version of Dragonsbane I can. This story means a lot to me. It's my first novel, and every step has been a learning experience. I know I've made mistakes, you've probably noticed how my writing style and organization have shifted over time, but I also know that with your support and feedback, I can continue to grow and improve.
Once again, thank you for your patience and for following me on this journey. I promise the wait will be worth it, and when the new chapters drop, I'll make sure they carry the energy and quality you all deserve.
