Chapter 148 - Taking Care of the Family

"So, that's it, right?"

At a private airport, Dante looked at the plane he had acquired some time ago and then glanced at Felipe, who stood beside him.

"You know…"

"Yes, you'll get half of the Jiménez business on the border between both countries. In the end, you'll have half the control, so it's fair considering the losses." Felipe agreed to everything Dante had demanded. After all, it was Dante, along with SAMCRO, who had eliminated their biggest competitors.

Besides, it would be foolish to turn against his biggest business partner, who not only brought him good money but also provided security.

Who else had SAMCRO's strength these days?

With contacts in the FBI, DEA, and even more secretive agencies, SAMCRO was his ticket to retirement.

"Haven't you thought about retiring?" Dante looked at Felipe as the plane in the distance positioned itself.

Felipe smiled slightly and said, "I was born to be what I am now. You have no idea the lives I've taken and the risks I've faced to reach the stability I have today."

"Then don't return to the United States. The FBI is launching a tough investigation to catch you."

"I'm aware of that. It's not a problem."

"It will be if they catch you. You're the only one who knows my real face, and it doesn't benefit me at all if you end up in prison," Dante said, checking the time.

"Now you're worried about me?"

"I'll take care of your associates. I might even make a deal with the FBI by handing over competitors who've been in hiding for too long." Dante had an idea in mind.

"I'll give you my contact. I have some prosecutors and lawyers inside the FBI; they'll be useful to you." Felipe had given him more than just that during their business dealings.

This was one of the reasons why Dante hadn't killed him.

Whether he liked it or not, alongside Felipe Lobos, they could reform the value of the drugs they sold at extremely low prices.

If they could implement this strategy worldwide, the market value would remain stable, but the availability of drugs in society would decrease significantly. He had debated this a lot, but Felipe, who had just realized his partner's plans, became intrigued by the idea.

After all, when a product becomes scarce, those invested in the business will do everything possible to meet the demand for drugs. If that happens, would Dante have the power to punish everyone selling drugs without his consent?

Moreover, the idea of taking control of an entire country was absurd, if not impossible.

In the United States alone, there were hundreds of gangs and criminal groups from different countries, backed by their families.

A clear example would be the Chechen mafia, involved in extortion, arms trafficking, fraud, robbery, money laundering, human trafficking, prostitution, and drug trafficking.

Although their enemies were the Russians and Slavic mafias, they operated in the U.S. with more discretion. However, when they needed hitmen or enforcers, their bosses didn't hesitate to send their people to protect their foreign territory.

There were many cases like this, and Dante wasn't quick to unify all organized crime. But it was something he was patiently working towards.

"I promised someone I would do it," Dante murmured, recalling that special person who had told him that nothing good would come from this business if he stayed in it—and they had been absolutely right.

Felipe Lobos pouted and said, "Well, take care of it."

"Yeah…"

Dante nodded slightly, and after signaling his agents with a few hand gestures, they all boarded the private jet.

"Sir, the reports."

"Did Alejandro take care of his target?"

"He did. Also, the DEA sends their thanks for supporting them in this operation. They mentioned that if we continue cooperating at the borders, they'd be willing to take out our enemies."

"That's a risky proposal…" Dante murmured, considering the possibilities.

Without a doubt, he had exposed himself too much in this mission, so his next move would be to stay hidden for a few months.

"I'd like to go hunting…"

"Animals?"

"Winter is coming. It would be interesting to immerse myself in the hunting environment for a few months," said Dante, who simply wanted to stay away from people for a while.

"I'll make the arrangements."

Montana, Jamie Dutton's Office

"Did my brother send this?" Jamie's hands trembled as he held two folders.

One contained the path to becoming the mayor of Montana, and the other, the route to becoming the attorney general—giving him the power to do much more than he could ever imagine.

"Your brother said he'd support you in whichever election you choose. He also left a private ranch in your name, which you can use to start a family," said a suited man standing before Jamie, one of Dante's envoys.

What Dante was giving his brother was the opportunity to be someone on his own. Away from his family, free from their father's shadow or the approval of his siblings.

Jamie was different from the rest—at least from his closest siblings. His talent wasn't in running a ranch or being John's shadow. No, Dante knew his brother was better suited for politics or a judicial position aligned with his profession.

Since Dante wanted to establish his own empire within Montana, he needed to secure all judicial and legal powers. Both positions were available to Jamie, and Dante was giving him the choice.

"So, which position will you take?" the man in front of Jamie asked, studying his expressions.

Jamie picked up the judiciary folder and murmured, "My brother needs more oversight in this area…"

Unlike his other siblings, Jamie knew Dante wasn't involved in anything legal. It was obvious from the way his fortune had grown so fast in such a short time.

He also knew about the ranch Dante had given Kayce, the bodyguards stationed there, and the investments being made to turn Yellowstone into an internationally recognized brand.

"If you choose the judiciary, a law firm currently operating worldwide in all your brother's businesses—both official and unofficial—will be placed under your name."

In addition to obtaining the position of attorney general, Jamie would gain control over a prestigious law firm that Dante had purchased a few months ago.

This firm acted as Dante's shield against the legal system, protecting him from any attempts to bring him down.

If Jamie took control of this law firm, he wouldn't just have power—he'd become what he had always wanted for the family.

"Tell my brother I've made my decision…" Jamie murmured as he took the judiciary folder.

The man before him nodded and said, "The building in Montana housing your law firm's branch can be inaugurated whenever you wish. The details are in your folder. Please review them; you'll also receive additional privileges from now on."

"Yes, I understand…"

Once the man left, Jamie wanted to read the documents more thoroughly. But at that moment, a man in a black suit entered and greeted him, "I'm Marco. I'll be your head of security from now on."

"My brother sent you?"

"Don't worry, I'll follow your orders from now on."

Jamie smiled and said, "But you're still here on my brother's orders…"

"I'm only here to protect you."

The only question Jamie had was—who was Dante protecting him from?

It was obvious they had enemies, but who wouldn't, being part of the Dutton family? They had numerous adversaries, but each one had kept their distance.

If anyone dared to cross the line, the family would strike back with full force.

But so far, no one had been bold enough to test the patience of the Duttons.

After all, they were the most powerful family in Montana—one that should never be underestimated.
