Chapter 239 - Law

Following that, Shalltear pressed forward, closing the distance between her and Shido as she thrust her lance in rapid succession. Shido remained on the defensive, barely keeping up with her relentless assault. Amused by his helpless state, Shalltear let out a mad laugh, a sadistic yet strikingly beautiful smile curling on her lips as she reveled in his struggle beneath her barrage.

Though she appeared carefree, almost playful in her cruelty, Shalltear knew better than to underestimate him. Behind her crazed expression, she kept her guard firmly raised, fully aware that lowering it against Shido would be a fatal mistake.

"Negative Impact Shield."

In the midst of her relentless barrage, Shalltear suddenly heard Shido's voice causing her to immediately change into a defensive stance.

BOOM!

A surge of energy erupted from Shido's body causing Shalltear to bare the whole burnt of the attack thrashing her backward.

However, Shalltear was an experienced fighter, a master of one-on-one combat. She quickly reacted, bracing herself with her lance as a shield, yet the force still blasted her nearly fifty meters back through the air.

"Impossible!"

Stabilizing herself midair, Shalltear's eyes widened in disbelief. Her gaze locked on Shido, who hovered casually in the air. She couldn't believe that Shido can also use the same skill like her and his version was much more powerful.

"What? Surprised I can use the same skill as you?" Shido chuckled, amused by Shalltear's dumbfounded expression. It was a rare sight to see her caught off guard, and he couldn't help but find it entertaining.

Though she remained silent, Shalltear didn't say anything, her expression already said everything.

"That's not the only thing I can use. I can also use this." Shido revealed a mysterious smile causing Shalltear to shiver.

She didn't know if it was because of the danger she sensed or because she became excited by Shido's smile but one was for sure.

Shido was about to do something beyond her comprehension.

And just as she expected, Shido executed an action that was entirely familiar with her yet didn't expect Shido would be the one using it.

Before Shalltear's eyes, a colossal pillar of blue light erupted, inscribed with mysterious runes as it stretched endlessly toward the sky.

"Let's see how you handle this, Shalltear…" Shido spread his arms wide, as if to welcome Shalltear.

Fallen Down

A super tier magic that could burn everything on sight. It was used by Ainz during their fight and Shido didn't let go of the chance to copy it and now using it against Shalltear.

Though shocked by the sight before her, Shalltear's instincts as a seasoned warrior screamed at her, she had to stop the spell before it fully released, otherwise it will shave a huge chunk of her hp.

Startled yet decisive, she instantly used 'Greater Teleportation', reappearing right before Shido. Her lance flashed into position, its tip leveled at his chest, ready to pierce straight through and end him in a single strike.

As she lunged, a sudden movement surged from below with swift speed. In the blink of an eye, it was already behind Shido, radiating the same murderous intent as Shalltear.

Yet, despite being caught between two killing blows, Shido showed no trace of panic. Instead, he wore a calm smile, as if he had foreseen what Shalltear was planning.

Shido didn't even need to look back to know who was coming for him. The attacker was the Einherjar, the same one that should have already been obliterated by his Jio Graze.

Yet, it seemed that it was more durable than he thought. However, it's appearance was far from good as it's body was slowing crumbling into pieces like a sand being corroded by the water.

Together, Shalltear and her faltering Einherjar launched a pincer assault, closing in from both front and rear, forcing Shido into a tight spot where neither escape nor defence came easily.

With the last of their strength, they thrust the lance forward, aiming straight for Shido's body.

Shalltear's eyes lit up with excitement when she saw no reaction from him, convinced that he had already resigned himself to death. But her joy quickly changed to confusion before changing again in terror.

The pillar of blue light surrounding Shido vanished in an instant. In the next heartbeat, he activated 'Territory', swapping places with the Einherjar.

Realizing that Shido switched places with Einherjar, Shalltear hurriedly stopped the lance in her hands from thrusting. But before she could fully stop her momentum, Shido's voice rang out once more.

"Ranka"

In an instant, the Einherjar's body was hurled straight into her, slamming into her with overwhelming force. The collision sent both of them plummeting from the sky like a broken kite.

BOOM!!!

They crashed into the ground with devastating impact, carving out another massive crater, the two lying at its center.

"Ugh!"

"Damn you!" Shalltear snarled, shoving the battered body of the Einherjar away from her. She glared up at Shido hovering in the sky, hatred burning in her eyes, only for that hatred to quickly twist into terror.

High above, Shido remained composed. Though faint bruises marked his body and dents marred his armor, showing that he had gone into a rather hard fight.

However, what made Shalltear look at him in dread was what he was doing. Shido positioned his arms parallel to each other while a golden ball of light was between his palms shining brightly.

Looking down from the sky, Shido stared at Shalltear before speaking.

"Playtime is over, Shalltear," Shido said, his voice calm yet majestic. "It's about time we end this charade."

"This might hurt a little… so grit your teeth and brace yourself."

With that warning, Shido pressed his palms together, clasping the radiant orb of light.

"Law!"

A sound of bell echoed across the battlefield. Then, from the heavens, a colossal golden pillar of light descended enveloping Shalltear's body completely.

"...No way."

Realizing there was no escape this time, Shalltear could only let out a faint, helpless smile as the golden light shrouded her body. Her HP plummeted rapidly, yet… strangely, the warmth she felt was not pain. It was comforting, like returning to Shido's embrace.

'…I'm so tired. I just want to sleep…'

With that final thought, Shalltear closed her eyes, surrendering to a deep slumber as if Shido were right beside her.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The explosion of light swallowed everything, shaking the battlefield with its overwhelming force.
