Chapter 348 - Chapter 348 Infiltration

Traveling to Demon Island on a small mast ship wasn't just about whether they could arrive safely, as it will also take at least ten days to get there.

The slow speed made the journey tedious, but Ging used the time to actively engage Law in conversation, sharing everything he knew without reservation.

From Ging's words, the key point was that there are still remnants of the old Seirin Group. And the more troublesome thing is that their numbers were unknown, but it was certain that some held high-ranking positions in the government, which is a conclusion drawn from certain clues.

Netero likely couldn't identify these high-ranking remnants either, and since Law's actions on the island couldn't be hidden from them, it might become a massive problem.

Netero hadn't told Law about these because he wanted to resolve the potential threat without Law's knowledge.

However, judging from the information Ging had gathered, as long as the enemy remained patient and didn't slip up, Netero would never be able to uncover their identity.

This unknown remnant was like a ticking time bomb, and while they might not pose a direct threat to the Hunter Association, they could easily target Law, or even those close to him, from the shadows.

The extreme vindictiveness of the Seirin Group was already evident from what had happened on Demon Island.

"Being in a high position..." Law pinched his chin and said, "That's quite troublesome."

Having spent a considerable amount of time in the Hunter x Hunter World, Law had a solid grasp of its workings.

Generally speaking, the V5 are behemoths standing at the top of the world, and the authority that can be exerted by a high-ranking official cannot be underestimated.

"It's indeed very troublesome."

Ging had a look of gloating on his face. A Hunter's freedom manifested in many ways. Some of the things he was, and planned to do, inevitably involved national interests, so he couldn't afford to clash directly with any government.

Although it is unclear what level of position the remnant holds, the sheer number of methods available to someone backed by a nation's machinery was staggering.

Just thinking about it made Ging's scalp tingle. The potential headaches were endless.

For example, if he wanted to have the permission to restore ruins, he must obtain permission from the government. Even the release and certification of Greed Island also needed official sanction from relevant departments.

Luo looked at the undisguised gloating on Ging's face and shook his head slightly, expressing helplessness.

He acknowledged that the remnants were a potential threat, but he wasn't overly concerned. If they really came after him, he'd handle it as it came. Even if national politics got involved, he wasn't afraid.

With his God Hand, which functioned similarly to the Life-Death Seal, even securing permission to travel to the Dark Continent wasn't beyond his reach. So he did not have to be afraid of those remnants of the old Seirin Group.

"Come out."

After figuring things out, Law stopped dwelling on the matter and summoned Kuro.

Hearing Law's call, Kuro leaped out from the tattoo.

"This is your Nen Beast?" Ging looked at Kuro with interest.

"Yeah."

Law nodded, then said to Kuro, "Fishing, old rules, 50-50."

"Got it."

Without needing further instruction, Kuro took the initiative to run to find the other end of the fishing line.

Under Ging's surprised gaze, Law and Kuro began their unconventional fishing session.

'...These two really know how to have fun.'

Ging smiled slightly and sat next to Law. He seemed to be very sure of the direction of the mast ship's sailing and didn't even bother monitoring it.

Twelve days later, the mast ship entered the waters surrounding Demon Island.

Perhaps it was the blessing of the sea god, but their journey was smooth and there were no storms or turbulence on the way.

Once they reached the outer perimeter of Demon Island, Ging lowered the sails and anchored the ship, then pulled out a nautical chart and compass to confirm their position.

"To be on the safe side, we have to take a detour." Ging looked down at the nautical chart.

Demon Island was now under government control. Within a designated security perimeter, unauthorized entry was strictly prohibited. However, completely sealing off the island would require an unfeasible amount of manpower and resources.

Until the island was fully secured, Ging doubted the government would invest too heavily in perimeter defense, especially since the two major threats on the island weren't so easily contained, so there had to be gaps to exploit.

After discussing the approximate location of the ruins with Law, they decided on a landing point, which was opposite side of the island from the main port. In other words, the back of the island.

After determining the location, they switched to rowing, slowly navigating around the island's perimeter. They maintained a cautious speed, ensuring they could react immediately if they spotted a patrol vessel.

Ging had chosen the mast ship precisely because it was archaic, as modern ships with electronic equipment were registered and easily detectable by radar. Moreover, the mast ship's lack of long-range capability also meant it was far less likely to be noticed.

Having overcome its shortcomings to reach Demon Island, they could now leverage its stealth to infiltrate undetected.

The process of sneaking into the island went smoothly. They detection and slipped to the island's hidden side.

The layers of stone spikes that bloomed outward from Devil's Island could not stop Luo and Jin.

With a single leap, the two leapt from the ship onto one of the stone protrusions.

Law raised his hand and called out Kuro, saying, "Store the ship."

"An object this big… if it accidentally gets digested, don't blame me."

Kuro curled its lips and said, then floated towards the mast ship. His mouth suddenly expanded and he swallowed the ship into an unknown space. Then he drifted back to Law's side, but he didn't immediately return to the tattoo.

"A very convenient ability." Ging praised, looking at Kuro with interest.

After traveling together for nearly half a month, he had a deeper understanding of Luo's abilities. He felt that the abilities displayed by Kuro as a Nen Beast were truly extraordinary.

Law thought to himself, 'Ging only saw Kuro's abilities and was not aware of his limitations, so of course he would praise it.'

But Law was not so idle that he would deliberately point this out to refute Ging's praise of Kuro.

With the ship safely stored, the two had no further concerns. They immediately began scaling the stone spikes, climbing higher.

Finally reaching the summit, they looked out, only to see a faint green mist permeating every corner of their vision. Vast stretches of withered trees lay collapsed on the ground, entangled with countless skeletal remains.

Even at the periphery, the scene exuded an overwhelming aura of death.

"It's a familiar yet unpleasant sight." Ging's expression remained calm. The scene before him reminded him of the landscapes ravaged by large-scale biochemical weapons.

"Let's go, and remember not to stay too far away from me."

After saying this, Law leaped down from the peak of the jagged stone mountain.

He enveloped Ging in a thin membrane of aura, shielding him from the green mist and eliminating the need for cumbersome protective gear.

Ging also jumped down, following closely behind Law.

At the same time, at the front port of Demon Island.

A fleet of warships hovered just beyond the shore, forming a fan-shaped formation facing the direction of the harbor.

There, a huge deformed monster was sitting quietly, with densely packed human hands and feet covering its body, looking both hideous and disgusting.

The military has made many attempts to attack, but none had any effect. In addition, there is also another threat on the island that has not yet appeared, so the warships only monitor the deformed monsters, while they send special forces to sneak into the island from other directions to collect information.
