Chapter 2 - At the Checkpoint

Priscilla's POV

After that encounter with the twins, my plane finally arrived. Relief washed over me as the announcement echoed through the lounge. I grabbed my luggage, adjusted the strap of my bag, and joined the line at the service counter for check-in. The place buzzed with chatter and the rolling hum of suitcases gliding across the tiled floor.

Slipping my earpiece into place, I let music drown out the noise, my fingers drumming absently against the handle of my suitcase. But then the man in front of me shifted, turning slightly. Staring back at me was a face I knew all too well, one of the twins.

"Hi," he said his smile easy, almost disarming.

I pulled out my earpiece with a sigh. "Which twin am I talking to?"

He chuckled and slipped his hands into his pockets, eyes glinting with mischief. "Can't you guess, beautiful?"

I let out a short laugh. "Beautiful now, huh? Right, David."

He grinned wider. "I'm Daniel."

My smile faltered. I rolled my eyes, exasperated. "Really? Why do twins do that?"

The line shuffled forward, and he moved with it, shrugging casually. "Do what?"

"Deceive people just because you're identical. It's not fair to my brain."

He laughed a warm, genuine sound that drew a few curious glances from people nearby. "It's only a joke never anything serious. You haven't told me your name, though."

"Priscilla," I replied. Then, after a pause, "And are you on this flight too?"

He nodded. "Yes. What's your tribal name?"

 "Adebola"

His smile softened, as though the name pleased him. "Bola. Nice to meet you."

I tilted my head, half-teasing, half-serious. "Nice to meet you too. Are you Taiwo or Kehinde?"

A smirk curved his lips. "I'm Kehinde."

"Obviously," I muttered, though a smile betrayed me.

Daniel chuckled and faced forward again, but I caught the amused twitch at the corner of his mouth.

"So, where's your twin?" I asked.

He shrugged. "Somewhere around. He'll show up before we board."

As if summoned by the words, a familiar presence slipped in behind me. An arm draped over my shoulders, warm and heavy, and a voice whispered close to my ear.

"So, I see you missed me, pretty," David teased.

I let out a theatrical sigh. "And when exactly would that be, quickie?"

He laughed, giving my shoulder a playful squeeze. "Quickie, huh? Couldn't you come up with a nicer nickname? Pretty, you know you want to."

I tilted my head toward him with a sweet smile. "Oh, I could. But honestly, 'Quickie' suits you better than 'Big Ego.'"

Ahead of us, Daniel's shoulders shook with laughter, though he didn't bother turning around.

"Oh, I see how this goes," David said, grinning down at me. "Just remember, I'll always be here for a quickie. One, two, maybe three… hey, we can even add a four." His hand ruffled my hair with infuriating ease.

"Just shut up," I said, swatting his hand away, though a laugh escaped me despite myself.

Still smiling, I stepped up to the counter, handed over my boarding pass, and tried not to think about the fact that this flight was already going to be far more interesting than I had bargained for.

DANIEL'S POV – Before Take-off

I settled into my seat by the window, glad to finally have a moment to myself. The cabin buzzed with the usual chaos of boarding, luggage being shoved into overhead bins, flight attendants directing passengers, children whining as their parents tried to calm them. I pulled out my laptop, slipped my headphones around my neck, and exhaled. A three-hour flight was the perfect excuse to tune out the world.

Of course, peace never lasted long with David around.

He dropped into the seat beside me with a grin that already spelled trouble.

"What's up?" I asked, powering on my laptop.

"Hmm… I won't be sitting here today, Daniel," he said, leaning in like he was sharing state secrets.

"I just spotted a pretty lady, and I swapped her partner's seat with yours. Hope you don't mind."

I turned to him, frowning. Typical David. Always chasing after someone, always scheming. "Really? Don't you think that could get you into trouble if something happens?"

He waved it off with a roll of his eyes. "Nothing will happen to me. I trust in your prayers, brother."

I sighed, though I couldn't help the faint smile tugging at my lips. His recklessness irritated me sometimes, but it was also part of his charm. "Fine. Just play safe and stay safe."

"Always will," he said with his signature grin, fist-bumping me as if that sealed the promise.

I shook my head. "You know God is not pleased with your fornicating habit, right?"

"Then I will trust in your prayers of mercy for me" He smiled and walked away.

I watched him go, shaking my head again. That was David: bold, restless, and absolutely unafraid of consequences. It baffled me sometimes how different we were. Where he thrived on chaos, I sought calm. Where he wanted to be seen, I preferred to disappear. And yet, we were twins, bound by something deeper than the opposites we embodied.

A few minutes later, a voice broke through my thoughts.

 "Is this seat 4B, please?"

I looked up. Priscilla stood beside me, boarding pass in hand, her brow furrowed. She hadn't even looked at me yet, her focus glued to the paper.

"Why don't you find out?" I said with a small smile.

Her eyes flicked up then, and I caught the subtle change in her face tension softening, relief washing over her features. "Hi."

"Hi," I echoed, unable to stop my own smile.

Then her expression tightened again. "Wait… which twin are you?"

I raised a brow, amused. "You still can't tell?"

She rolled her eyes as she slid into the seat. "You both dress the same and look exactly alike. How am I supposed to know?"

 "Try," I teased.

She studied me for a long moment, her gaze moving over my face. "Kenny."

I lifted my eyebrows higher in mock surprise, enjoying her uncertainty then laughed, nodding.

She let out a small laugh, "Yeah, I got it. That was hard though"

I shrugged. "I don't think so. We're two completely different people with different personalities. Even if one of us tried to imitate the other, the façade would slip eventually, and the truth would show."

"This is my third time talking to you," she said thoughtfully. "I can't claim I'm sure yet, but at least I'm getting smarter trying to tell you two apart."

I laughed, warmed by her honesty. "Well, I'm glad we could give your brain a little workout."

She chuckled, her eyes sparkling now instead of frowning. "Thanks."

I winked at her before turning back to my laptop, fingers tapping across the keyboard. Still, a quiet thought lingered in the back of my mind: maybe David wasn't the only twin who might get into trouble on this flight.
