Arthur stayed quiet. The weight of her words pressed against him.
Nnenna hesitated a moment, then let her voice soften, reflective now. "A lot has changed for me in the past few months. If someone had told me…" She trailed off, then shook her head slightly. "…that I would see you differently. Not even two years ago, when you were such a pain in the elbow… but just some months ago, I would never have believed it. Yet here I am."
She smiled faintly, amusement dancing in her tone, though her eyes wandered off somewhere distant.
"What do you mean?" Arthur asked, leaning forward slightly, fully focused.
"I mean…" Nnenna paused, searching for the words, "…you've somehow sneaked into my heart. And you mean a lot to me. More than ever before."
