Emily convulsed violently in her arms, her body seizing as the last remnants of the Hate System tried to resist being pulled away.
"Emily." Nnenna cried, tightening her hold. "Stay with me. It's leaving you, it can't hurt you anymore."
The air shimmered faintly around them, glowing traces of light and shadow flickering before vanishing completely. But the seizure wasn't stopping. Her eyes rolled back, her limbs jerking violently in her arms.
"Emily." Nnenna's voice broke as she held her tighter. "No, no, no, please, hold on."
She could feel the Love System humming faintly in her chest, steady but silent, as if waiting for her command. "Love System," she called quickly, her hands already checking Emily's pulse, "why is she still seizing? You said the Hate System was gone!"
"It is imprisoned," the Love System answered gently in her mind, "but its venom lingers in her body. It tried to destroy what it couldn't keep."
Nnenna's jaw clenched. "She's not its to destroy."
