"To hell with that," I rasped, my breath catching in my throat. I stared down the approaching fallen angel, a final, defiant fire igniting in my soul. "If I'm at my limit… then I'll just have to shatter through it! And then, I WILL destroy you, Kokabiel!"

As the words ripped from my lips, the last vestiges of lightning and fire around me died, replaced by something new. A brilliant, violent purple aura erupted from my body, swirling like a tempest. It was raw, untamed, the very energy of destruction.

Kokabiel let out a feral grin, sensing the shift. "Then bring it on!"

We ran. A blur of black wings and a streak of purple light colliding in the center of the ruined courtyard. There was no finesse, no strategy—only a brutal, desperate exchange of blows. He hit me, and my ribs screamed. I hit him back, and his jaw cracked. It was a slugfest fought on pure, unadulterated willpower.

I ducked under a wild swing and drove my boot into his stomach. The force of the kick sent him stumbling back. I didn't give him a moment to recover. I poured the last of my strength into my legs and ran, appearing at the spot where he was about to land just as he arrived. I launched myself into the air, my leg a blur as I kicked him straight up into the sky.

I leaped after him, defying gravity one last time, my hands crackling with a familiar, searing heat.

"FIRE DRAGON SACRED ART… FLAME LOTUS EXPLODING FLAME BLADES!"

Dozens of spinning, fiery blades materialized around me and shot downward, converging on him in a vortex of death. They struck in a series of rapid, concussive explosions that tore through the night. As the smoke from the final blast cleared, I saw his broken body falling from the sky, a dead weight.

It wasn't enough. I had to be sure.

I fell towards him, my mind screaming for a weapon. A flash of light appeared in my hand, coalescing into the brilliant, white-gold form of the Holy Avenger.

"GOD'S SPEED SLASH!"

I vanished. To the observers below, I was a flicker of purple and gold light. To Kokabiel, I was his end. I reappeared on the ground, my back to him, as his body continued its fall. In the instant I was gone, the judgment was delivered.

A single, clean slice appeared vertically down the center of his chest. Another slashed horizontally across his stomach. A third, diagonal cut ran from his right shoulder to his left hip. The final cut was a silent, silver arc that separated his head from his neck.

I hit the ground, my knees buckling. The Holy Avenger dissolved from my grasp, returning to its dimension. I fell backward, my consciousness fading, and landed in a pair of small, strong arms.

"Shiro…" Koneko's voice was a soft anchor in the swirling darkness.

"Hey… Koneko," I breathed.

Just then, a flash of pure white light illuminated the courtyard. Vali Lucifer hovered there, clad in his Divine Dividing Balance Breaker. He scanned the battlefield, his gaze landing on the pieces of Kokabiel's body scattered across the ground. Then, his helmeted gaze settled on me.

A deep, ancient voice boomed from Issei's gauntlet. "Are you going to ignore me, White One?"

Another voice, cool and arrogant, echoed from Vali's armor. "I did not know you were awake yet, Red One."

A third voice, my voice, but deeper and filled with draconic amusement, rumbled from my own Boosted Gear. "God, you both are such idiots."

Draig and Albion spoke in perfect, indignant unison. "FUCK YOU TOO!"

"You wish," Voltaris snorted. "But just so you both know, my partner will become far stronger than I ever was in my prime. I just want you to be aware of that."

A weak smile touched my lips. "You're making me blush, Voltaris."

"He's just like you," Albion remarked to his rival.

"You have no idea," Draig grumbled back.

Vali ignored the dragons' squabbling. He looked down at Issei. "A bit of advice," he said, his voice flat. "Train more." He then swooped down, effortlessly plucked Kokabiel's severed head from the ground, and vanished in another flash of light.

….

I was still on the ground, Koneko's small frame the only thing keeping me upright. My entire body felt like one giant bruise.

"Shiro!"

I heard the frantic cry and saw Asia running toward me, her face pale with worry. She was in such a hurry that she tripped over a piece of rubble and went down in a clumsy heap.

"Clumsy as usual," I managed to chuckle, my voice weak.

She quickly stood up, a small pout on her face as she dusted herself off.

"Thank you so much, Shiro," Rias said, her voice trembling with exhaustion and relief. "I didn't know what I would've done if… if they had been killed."

Asia finally reached me and knelt down, her hands immediately glowing with a soft green light as she began to heal my wounds. The warmth was bliss.

"When I can feel my hands again," I mumbled, "I'll get some potions out for you all."

"Shiro!"

The sharp cry made me look up. Standing behind everyone was a very angry-looking Pisti, her hands on her hips and her foot tapping impatiently. Beside her, Morgiana looked on with a familiar, amused expression.

"Yo," I said with a weak wave.

"Don't you 'yo' me, mister," Pisti scolded.

"Sup," Morgiana added with a nod.

"Um, Shiro?" Rias asked, looking at Pisti with a confused tilt of her head. "Who's the little girl?"

The temperature in the courtyard dropped by twenty degrees.

I felt a wave of pure killing intent wash over me. I glanced over at Pisti, who was smiling a bright, cheerful smile that didn't reach her eyes in the slightest. The rage behind it was terrifying. I sweat-dropped.

"She's, uh," I stammered, choosing my words very carefully. "She's a very nice lady. In her early twenties."

Issei squinted at me. "That sounded really forced."

"It was," I admitted with a sigh.

"Shiro!" Pisti hissed, a faint blush dusting her cheeks.

"Here," I said, trying to change the subject as feeling started to return to my fingers. But as I thought about who was here, I realized who wasn't.

"Hey," I said, my voice suddenly serious. "Where's Frost and Ophis?"

Zoro, leaning against a broken wall, answered. "Frost is hibernating. Said something about a growth spurt."

"Okay," I said, relieved. "What about Ophis?"
