Avery said calmly. "I want you to publicly apologize to my family and admit that you secretly hired thugs to kidnap them.
"Then, turn yourself in and accept the consequences of breaking the law. Only then will I forgive you for what you did to my family."
"What did you say?" Anabel was so worked up that she nearly lost her temper. "You want me to turn myself in and go to jail? Are you kidding me?"
"I'm not joking." Avery said calmly, "Everyone should be responsible for their actions. Also, we live in a civilized society now and should abide by the law."
"Abide by the law?" Anabel looked as if she had heard the biggest joke in the world. "If you were law-abiding, why would you frame me for the robbery of the photolithography machine?"
"If you had abided by the law, I naturally would do the same as well," Avery said coldly, "If you were punished by the law, I naturally wouldn't use the law to punish you."
